When I posted my video clip for "You Never Stop Loving Somebody", I made a little joke and said the you guys should try and guess what the next one would be. Since most of my videos seem to center around secondary characters (like Dan and Lana - and shirtless Clark!!) a few people suggested I do something with Mayson Drake. Well, turns out my last video was a TOGOM thing, but *this one* is a Mayson Drake video. See... I listen. smile

No need to make bets on what my next vid will be, btw - I already know and *yes* it's yet another secondary character. Hey, they deserve some exposure too, after all!!

Woohoo, first feedback!

For someone who hates (or hated) Mayson you certainly know how to make us feel bad for her! Lots of emotion in that song and in that vid. Great job!

I agree with Cape Fetish. You definitely made me feel sorry for Mayson, something which I don't usually feel!

I loved the old movie projector at the start - that really made me think, 'Ooh... Fancy - this is going to be a good video...'.

Not that your videos aren't always good, Lara! laugh

Oooh this was such a perfect song for Mayson Drake! Especially the first couple of lines. Something about Clark not letting her go. That was so true. Argh. I'm torn between my intense dislike of Mayson and my new feelings of sympathy.

Great job on the vid!

Laura

AIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!! *Tackles vid to ground and hugs it into a million pieces*

You finished it! sloppy

*goes back to watching*

Gah. I love this even a billion times better than the first little bit you showed me!

Man, if I'd have known you were gonna finish it last night, I would have said 'screw you, sleep!' and stayed awake!

Just gorgeous, medear!

Mmm cheese.

I vid, therefor I am.

The hardest lesson is that love can be so fair to some, and so cruel to others. Even those who would be gods.

Beautiful job, Lara! I like that song, and it fits really well -- and from now on when I hear it on the radio I'll be seeing Mayson's face goofy I'm not sure if I should be thanking you for that, actually... wink but she did get some pretty poor treatment.

Anyway, well-done, you!

awww! *blushes*

Thank you! smile I have to admit, I truly did not like Mayson at all. Not one tiny little bit.

...but after making this, I feel so really very sorry for the girl. *sigh* And I don't hate her half as much as I used to anymore.

Thanks for the comments, everyone. Made my day! smile

I never hated Mayson, I thought all in all she's a nice person smile . OK, sometimes she was a bit blunt, but she knew what she wanted and that was Clark! And I always give her credit because of that: she wanted Clark and not that flashy guy with the blue tights wink I never could hate her only because she tried to snatch Clark away from Lois, I think if Clark would ever really have said to Mayson that he loves Lois than I don't think she would have tried it any longer. But Clark being Clark only havered the whole time ...

Oh, nearly forgot: I love the video clap

It's luscious Lara vidness!

Very nice, Lara. The song is a great fit. I like the whole thing but the parts that stand out are Mayson's face when she sees shirtless Clark (hell, I probably would have fallen over myself!) and the "I love you" at the very end.

What vid program do you use? Your opening credits always blow me away. But considering your RL job, you probably have access to a nifty program I've never heard of!

I do have access to a nifty program you've never heard of that's called Avid|DS -- but you've *definitely* seen stuff done with it before, because most (if not all) of the prime-time TV shows that are broadcast in HD-TV are edited on that. And most late-night talk shows are, as well, like Letterman for instance.

This said...

I work with iMovie on my iMac. smile

And my opening credits are... um... themes that come with the app. Although, that last one, with the projector isn't - that one I'm not giving the secret to. Took me days to figure it out, I'm hanging on to it for a few more weeks. wink

Thanks for the comments, Lisa - I really appreciate it. And.. oh, the "looking Clark up and down" still gets to me even if I've seen it a million times now. I slowed it down, btw... it's more amusing in slow-mo! XD

Hi Lara,

Just found this video and watched it twice smile

You've done a great job. I especially love the projector and the black-and-white scenes (Lois's face when she sees them kissing is hilarious) but your general choice of scenes was really good, too, and the song fit perfectly.

I think you really managed to convey what the thing with Mayson was all about.

In spite of myself, I always sort of liked Mayson. I mean, she was a high-power career woman and it was probably hard for her to admit how much she cared for Clark – but she really made herself vulnerable by actively pursuing him because she didn't want to pass up that chance for happiness. And he led her on.

I always felt that Clark was acting a little like a jerk when it came to Mayson, like the lyrics say "you're not sure enough to let me go" and, let's be honest here, he did "drag out the heartache" for Mayson.

Sorry, for that bit of pseudo-psychology, but I guess I always identified with Mayson a little.

Coming back to your video, I love the scene you picked for the end; not her death but the one time she really said that she loved him. Very sweet and sad.

Thanks for sharing this,

Eva
