I decided to try something new. This is essentially a fanfic, but in a different medium. It's a text adventure game. It's part of the Martha & Lara universe, but hopefully comprehensible without having to read all those stories beforehand.

Paul (Hatman) beta'd version 1.0 for me, and I made improvements based on his suggestions (If you get stuck, thank Paul that there's a hint file). Thanks, Paul! sloppy

He hasn't seen this version, though, so any mistakes/errors/bugs are still my fault. I tried to test it myself, just to make sure it can run without crashing. Nonetheless, if you do come across any bugs or problems, please post here and tell me. I can still make a fixed version if need be; it won't be too much trouble. (Unless the bugs revolve around two certain pieces of furniture...but I digress).

Seriously, though, please do tell me everything--the good, the bad, and the ugly. smile

The game is hosted on the MegaUploads website, and there should be a download button on the page. It's an EXE file.
Click here to download the game from MegaUploads.

And, well, that's it, I guess. The game was created on Tads3, and it was a lot of fun! If you haven't played text games before (or in a while), here's a Wikipedia Article . I hope it helps.

Have fun and Enjoy! smile

Hey! This is such a neat game...thing. I've never even heard of it before. I was playing it last night. But I'm a little confused. Can you only wander around the house? Like with the "north" "south" ect. commands? Or do you interact with people? Either way, it was fun. smile And I thought her thoughts on Lois and Clark in the shower were too hilarious.

Laura

Oooh yes! I thought you could just use the north, south, ect. commands. I'm off to go play it trying some of the ones you mentioned!

Wow! That was pretty cool. I've never played anything like that before. I hope you'll make another one again sometime soon.

Wow, I've never seen such a game before. I think it will take some time to get it solved, but I'm determined to try it at least wink clap

Ooh, fun!

I'm still trying to use the spot remover on the dress though. I can't figure out the correct command. I'm trying 'use spot remover' and 'use spot remover on dress' and 'use spot remover on stain' and it keeps telling me 'you see no spot remover in the stain' etc. Hmm... What other word can you use instead of 'use' as a command?

~Anna.

Lois: Jimmy, give me back my dress.
Clark: Now there's something you don't hear around the newsroom everyday.

I had trouble with the spot remover too. If I remember correctly, the key is the directions on the spot remover. I think that gave me the word to use. I just can't remember what it was now.

Okay, I can't figure out how to dry the dress (since the dryer is malfunctioning) or how to get Lois to give up her silver necklace. *sigh* Maybe I'm just not cut out for this game - I have to ask far too many questions to finish it! wink It's still fun though. Thanks, Queen of the Capes!

Clean dress?

I need to find some time to check this out. I have fond memories of playing text games back in the days when that was all there was. Long before these new-fangled internet/Playstation things. laugh

Anyone remember Valhalla for the ZX Spectrum? Ah, the many happy evenings I spent on that one....

Athos: No, no, by all means, let's keep things suicidal.

OMG! Mary!!! This was way too much fun! <squeals in delight> You HAVE to do another one!!! Pretty please? It took me 237 moves to get 100 points - which I know probably sucks but I've never done one of these before. I had a blast!!!

Thanks so much.

And to any of you who haven't beaten it yet... I can be bribed. LOL!

P.S. - Anna... think about this - Martha is *super*. <g> That's all I'll say and hopefully that wasn't too much.

If it's any consolation, People, I don't think I've *ever* beaten a text game without the help of a walk-through. goofy

This is so much fun! Thank you, for creating this game! thumbsup
I've never played something like that.

I finally found my shoes, got the hair pick and the necklace, put on the make up and removed the stain and am now wearing the shoes and the clean dress.
Now I seem to be stuck, since I can't figure out what else there is to do? I've two hints left about the necklace and the stain, but I've already solved that, I have the necklace and my dress is clean. confused I'm a bit confused.. What should I do now?
I can't get out of the house and my date isn't coming...

I could say something cool and vague-sounding here, like how you need to take time to reflect on your problem. However, the part about looking in the mirror in order to win was never meant to be a puzzle, so I'll just go ahead and tell that to you. I'm sorry it's so obscure; I just couldn't figure out how to tell the computer that the player had won. sad

If I ever do this again, I'll have to work on making the ending clearer...or at least more relevant.
