Great job on this story!
I was drawn in immediately with the first two parts, wanting to know what would happen next. Then I read part three, and was hit by the strongest sense of deja vu I think I've ever had. I had read this story on another board, where you posted it last year, right?
I remembered how much I liked it, and I'm afraid that from part 3, I cheated. Yes. I went to the other board and just devoured the
whole thing in one reading frenzy.
Yup, I liked it just as much this time, too. I agree with Wendy that the grammar needs a bit of tweaking, but hey, that's what we GEs are for. (You
are going to submit this to the archives, right? Or else?)
Other than that, I like it as it is. It's gripping, powerful, touching. I, too, liked the 'unvarnished' Clark at the end. And I liked Lois's line about not promising to never make her cry. That's good - she understands it won't be happily ever after every minute of their lives, and isn't worried about that.
Nice job! Thanks for posting it here. It isn't on the archives (hint, hint) so if you hadn't posted it here I may not have ever had the pleasure of reading it again.
