I'm not quite sure where that K-count number on the Archives comes from but I know it's not a Kb count from WORD. I believe Michael once said that it's Kb count from a plain text version of story. In WORD 2007, Lois & Clark Do 100 Crimes was 29Kb, but when I translated the file to plain text it went down to 16Kb (which it's listed on the list). Hope that helps.

Yes, it's very likely I said that once smile1

You can also get Word to give you the character count by clicking on the word count located in the status bar at the bottom left. Character Count (incl. spaces) is the number you're looking for. It's possible that this also adds the number of characters from the comments, plus, line breaks in plain text file get counted as two characters. But it's a close approximation that should hold up except for edge cases when you're right on the brink between two sizes.

I'll save them off as plain text tomorrow. I'll do the same for my stories. Those are word document counts I provided. Most of them could drop a category as a result.

I think I squeaked one in under the wire for last year. It hasn't been sent to the archive yet, but should be in the very near future. Can we add "Now or Never" to the list? In plain .txt format it comes to 43K.

Thanks!

Lois: You know, I have a funny feeling that you didn't tell me your biggest secret.

Clark: Well, just to put your little mind at ease, Lois, you're right.

Thanks to everyone here for their input and thanks to Groobie for supplying me with links to ALL fanfics. I will be updating the website this weekend.

Make sure you take a look around because the kerth site was a part of the major over haul of the web sites I run.

Those were the k counts for Word docs. These are the k counts for .txt documents which is what you are going by.

This moves a few of my stories to the mid-length category.

Sorry for the confusion.

I just checked a couple more of my stories:

Halloween in Metropolis - Matchmaker Chronicles Vol 1 CD 29 K
Thanksgiving in Smallville - Matchmaker Chronicles Vol 1 CE 28 K

These are txt file k counts and both stories move to the Short Story category.
