Uh, hello everybody. Errr... Remember me? I haven't really been here in a while, but here I am again. *nervous smile*
I actually got this idea during Valentine's Day, but I didn't have the time to type it then (dang school!
), so I guess I'm a bit late with it...
Anyway, I hope you like it and that my Lois&Clark fic abilities hasn't decreased into nothing.
My biggest thanks to Labby for Beta-ing this for me.
Happy Valentine’s Day, Clark Spending Valentine’s Day in the office wasn't that bad, Lois realized as she passed Perry’s office.
The news was coming in slowly but surely; the stress-level was low; she could avoid all that hideous Valentines frenzy outside...and Perry was in a good mood. Lois smiled as she managed to catch the soft tunes of But I can’t help falling in love with you coming from his office.
She shook her head with a smile as she returned to her desk. She studied her article with a light frown before glancing back towards Perry's office. She was practically finished with the article...and she was sure he wouldn't mind if she took a short break. Besides, what he didn't know wouldn’t hurt him.
With that in mind she closed down the file she was working on and grabbed a blank sheet of paper instead. She clicked her pen thoughtfully. As opposed to Valentine's Day as she was, she still couldn’t help but to want to give Clark something. Clark was, after all, a very special person.
Lois glanced at Clark with a frown. Their relationship had always been rather…undefined, so to speak. They had been dancing around each other for months, their relationship always bordering between friendship and…and something else.
Lois clicked her pen again with a sigh. She was a horrible gift shopper. It was her darkest and most guarded secret, together with the fact that she was a horrid cook. Usually, she really wouldn’t have thought that much about it. But now, for once, she really wanted to do things right. She really wanted to give Clark something nice. Something he’d appreciate and remember.
But the question still stood. What to give Clark? What did you give a guy who seemingly had everything he needed? He wasn’t really what you’d call a material guy. He had a nice family and friends who cared for him.
So, what on earth was she supposed to get him?
Flowers? No. Flowers withered and died before they were thrown out, together with the rest of the unnecessary knick-knacks. And there they would lie, nothing more than a mere faint memory. A happy memory, yes, but still very faint.
And besides, did men really like getting flowers?
A card? No. Too impersonal, cheap and simple. Clark deserved more than that.
A poem she’d written? Lois snorted at the idea. While she was unsure whether or not Clark would like to get a poem, the idea itself was ludicrous. The one poem she’d managed to write, years and years ago, had been bad bordering on pathetic. Afterwards she’d sworn never to stoop so low again.
She studied Clark intently. He smiled, clapping Jimmy gratefully on the shoulder as he handed him a folder.
Lois smiled as inspiration suddenly struck. She rose, quickly striding over where Clark stood, carefully studying the contents of the folder.
”Clark?”
”Yeah, Lois?” He glanced up from the folder briefly.
She launched herself at him, locking her lips with his.
The kiss was short. A brief touch of lips on lips.
But it was still breathtakingly sweet.
It was a short moment where nothing mattered; a short moment they shared together. It was the moment she realized that she’d never love another man the way she loved Clark.
It was the most beautiful thing she’d ever experienced.
They broke apart, both looking rather dazzled. Clark stared at her, his eyes hazy.
Lois smiled. ”Happy Valentine’s Day, Clark.”
