JellyS2,
Virtual hugs from Delaware. You seem like a truly passionate teacher, and your students are lucky to have you. It sounds like you are doing everything you can for your students. Be sure to take some time to be good to yourself, as well.

LOL. I know what you mean about celebrating the small victories, and I find that I do feel more peaceful in an uncluttered room. (Incidentally, I love the "twinadoes" portmanteau.) Haha, I wish I could say I coined the term....but I stole it from a Twin Parent page on Facebook. Still, it is the MOST accurate description I've seen for young twins, no matter what mix (b/b, g/b, g/g) they are.

I am doing well. I have to go grocery shopping tomorrow which I hate to do, but I will don my mask and out I will go. I hope everyone is doing well with all this madness.

Life is still crowded for me. I'm still pretty much house bound except for shopping trips and picking up my brother's prescriptions. I'm his guardian, so I have to be on top of that.
Tomorrow, I'm going to be forced to drive down to Plano, which is an hour away from me, for a one year checkup. I was surprised when I thought about it how much that disturbed me. Plano is in Collin County, which has a much higher rate of COVID infections than good old Grayson County where I live. We're up to 13, still a good 20 miles away for the closest one. Still the doctor screens everybody before letting them in his office so it's probably pretty safe. My masks won't arrive until about the 20th so I'll just have to be very careful about "social distancing."
Your story about your twins is funny, Chackram. It brings back some memories. My twins, however, are now 32 years old; one is a sergeant in the Army down in El Paso, and the other is in Syracuse, New York.

No COVID issues here but 2020 been long. My husband, 2 year old and I were in a car accident where we hit a cow and totaled our truck in June. Then the Oregon fires came within 4 miles of my in-laws farm and were forced to evacuate. We had to house 4 pigs, 4 goats, 50 chickens, 3 dogs, a cat and 4 extra people at my house for a week. While they were out they were robbed and the house was trashed. Shortly after returning my MIL had a heart attack and ended up with a triple bypass. While she was recovering I ended up in the ER for a tachycardia issue I’ve been dealing with since I was 19 and it was the final straw and I went and got the ablation. The same week I was told my whole department was being let go and outsourced to Mexico where they’re importing Indians to fill the positions to bypass the halting of H1B visas. But thankfully nobody has been sick.

Hi Chickberry,
Wow. You really did have a rough 2020. I hope 2021 proves to be much better for you and your in-laws.

Thought I'd drop in with another thought from the author of xkcd.com. This isn't the only strip about the pandemic/lockdown/quarantine, but it's the latest. This guy is really smart and witty - occasionally uses inappropriate (to my gentle sensitivities, anyway) humor and vocabulary, but I've not found any strip to be judgemental or condescending to anyone or any group. This one is good for a chuckle. My wife and I got our first Pfizer shots last weekend - second doses coming the second weekend of April. Neither of us has had any symptoms, nor did either of us have any reaction to the first shot. Anecdotal evidence, I know, but it's all I have to go on. Y'all stay safe and well!

Hi DCarson,
Congratulations. I just had my first dose today; I'm scheduled for my second exactly three weeks after my first. (Same time of day, even.)
Aside from a slightly sore vaccination site, so far, so good. Of course, I hear that the more pronounced side effects tend to occur after the second dose for people who have not had COVID.
I don't think I have ever in my life been as happy to feel a needle go into my arm.
Good luck with your vaccines.

Congrats, dcarson! My first shot is scheduled for 4/6! My husband got his through work, and gets his second shot 4/8. I literally screamed with joy once I got off the phone. (My doctor's office is running a clinic, so I was also very happy to not have to go through the VAMS system here in the US.)
Between scheduling that and getting Twin B through surgery, the relief was SO REAL. (She broke her elbow falling off our playscape's monkey bars and had to get 3 pins in it plus a cast. She'll be good as new in 3 weeks and has been SO brave.) Never a dull moment here!
