Emotion islands? Sounds like a plan. Some of those lines had me laughing. Disgust shrugged. “At least he’s a wealthy creep.”
Joy shook her head. “Are we really being that shallow? And I don’t think that Clark is a creep. Maybe he’s just afraid to reveal himself in front of Lois. We should give him a chance. Maybe even make her see the truth.”
Fear shuddered. “You mean hitting the epiphany button? Are you insane? Last time we did that, Lois stayed in bed for three days straight.”
The other four emotions flinched with the memory. “Oh, yes, Claude,” Joy said, embarrassed. Lois honey, Clark is definitely not a creep! Go on, tell the wealthy creep to take a hike! The relationship island started breaking apart. All five emotions watched the crumbling debris.
“Okay, girls,” Disgust heaved a sigh. “Let’s take a picture of that island as well, before it’s too late. It should fit well with the other ones on our wall of federal disasters.” Now that's what I call teamwork!!!

I love the idea that Lois subconsciously knows the truth, or at least her feelings do. Thanks for this one! ^_^

"Inside Out" is one of my favorite Pixar movies. When my wife and I saw it, I told her "That's me! And that's our younger daughter too!" Because she and I share a touch of Asperger's Syndrome, and sometimes we each know what the other is thinking.
The conflict inside each of us is real, and that often produces more stress than anything outside our bodies. As long as we remember that our different aspects are trying to work together to solve the problems, we'll have a better handle on what to do and when to do it.
Thanks, Lynn. Cute tale, and very illuminating.

Thank you all for your feedback, Morgana, Queen of the Capes and Terry. When I thought about sneaking a peek into Lois' mind, I couldn't help but taking this scene. Usually, I find Lois' inner turmoil harder to write than Clark's, because I understand his reasoning better than Lois'. Why on earth did she of all people think that she had to marry at all? Well, of course because the author's said so, but still... Btw, the name's bakasi or Barbara. Lynn is a great author, but not responsible for this tale, Terry.

Lynn is a great author, but not responsible for this tale, Terry. Feh. Sometimes I forget how to people. My abject apologies, Barbara! It's just that you and Lynn both write so well, so evocatively, that I got you confused for a brief moment. I also apologize to Lynn for taking this credit away from her. She has certainly earned other accolades on her own merit, so I don't feel too bad about divesting her of this one.

First off, we love Inside Out in this house. You captured the Emotions very well! I love, love, love the idea that the Emotions know about Clark when Lois doesn't yet...at least not on a conscious level. The Epiphany Button is a wonderful idea...I wonder when Headquarters had that one installed. LOL! Great moment for the Emotions to be interacting with too. Thanks for sharing!

This was hilarious. I could so see this happening if it was real. Spot on Lois emotions and I loved the epiphany button. Part of me wants to see their conversation for when they pushed it to show her the truth of Superman and Clark..... Anyway, great one-shot ^_^

HOLY FREAKING COW… This is AMAZING. AMAZING!! I mean… you snuck the revelation in there! I LOVE that her mind knows already at this point… just like of course she knows she loves Clark but just hasn’t admitted it yet. Oh, it’s so perfect! And I literally LAUGHED OUT LOUD, like barked with laughter at the bit about pressing the epiphany button for Claude and staying in bed for 3 days straight. And then the federal disaster bit! Oh, I’ve got a huge smile on my face this morning, thank you! Sara

Hi Barbara! I think this is the last one? So, now it’s Lois. Looking forward to seeing her baseline emotions. Outwardly, only the tears streaming down her face indicated the turmoil inside her head Oh, that poor poor makeup specialist. SPECIALIST: I coated her finished face with acrylic. It’s not my first Luthor wedding. “Clark loves her. And you know exactly that she loves him, too.” She flinched as Disgust materialized next to her, seemingly out of nowhere. “Oh, does he?” Disgust raised her brows. “Need I remind you that he also told her in no uncertain terms that there was no future for a relationship? Not to mention this impossible remark about her nightgown.” Twist! Her emotions know! Anger tore at her hair. “I’ll find a way. How was that stuff called again? Kryptonite?” Sadness shook her head. “Keep your shirt on. Actually, anger causing Lois to take her shirt off in front of Clark *could* possibly kill him. “Another creep,” Disgust supplied helpfully. We need to introduce Disgust to Lust. Maybe he’s just afraid to reveal himself in front of Lois. Of course he is. Even in the early nineties, that sort of behavior would at least get him sent to HR for a strong reprimand about how he is not supposed to be doing this sort of thing in the office. Fear shuddered. “You mean hitting the epiphany button? Are you insane? Last time we did that, Lois stayed in bed for three days straight.” Joy snorted. “Don’t worry. We’ll just take off the wedding dress, walk out of this room and everything will be fine.” Fear turned from violet to white in an instant. “What? Undress in front of all those people? That could be a fun nightmare for Lois during the days leading up to her wedding: she watches Star Trek and then dreams that she shows up to her own wedding https://memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki/Betazoid_wedding.The other emotions looked puzzled. But then Fear pointed at the screen. “Hello, Duh! In case you didn’t notice – we’re already standing in front of Lex and the arch bishop. And he’s just about to address Lois.” Oh. Ooops? Sadness and Joy both heaved a sigh of relief. Then they pushed the button just as the bishop looked at Lois expectantly. He was obviously waiting for her answer. Lois voice was raspy. “I…I can’t.” Awww- Joy and Sadness. “Okay, girls,” Disgust heaved a sigh. “Let’s take a picture of that island as well, before it’s too late. It should fit well with the other ones on our wall of federal disasters.” That was Fun! Thanks for the smiles! And then I went and checkout out what it’s all about. Cute! Fun adaption Michael

Hi Michael,
Thanks for the feedback. I do remember the betazoid wedding. Hubby introduced me to Startrek some time ago. I was a bit confused by your comments until you mentioned that you hadn't read the challenge.
If you don't know the movie "Inside out" yet, you should absolutely watch it. One of the best Pixar movies in my book.

Hi Barbara, yeah, I wondered about that, but I hoped by adding the note at the first Inside story, to prevent this Definitely didn't want to go and remove all the now obsolete comments And watched it yesterday. It was fun. and they want to do another one in two years as a teenager and with extra emotions. Doesn't explain the parents' limited set, though. The progression from simple to more complex emotional states was quite well done. Michael
