Sorry about not posting last week. RL was a little busier than usual. Hoping to be better about posting going forward.

Anyhow, this is a little different from Lois and Clark's parting in canon.

As always, comments are much appreciated.

This is so heartbreaking. I love how they discuss making love to say farewell, but decide against it.

Yes, very painful for both of them. Clark could not bear the possibly of his child growing up without a father. That took a lot of courage and good sense.

I wanted their final private time together to take place anywhere else besides their respective apartments or the bullpen. Centennial Park seemed the best location since that is where Clark proposed making those moments bittersweet.

Hi Morgana!

Slowly reading the final version and happy to see it posted!

The soothing beams of moonlight that caress each and every object of nature
This is such poetic prose!

...refusing to acknowledge those bright emissaries of night.
I love this phrasing, too!

She was the embodiment of all he hoped for in life.
So sweet!

But stronger than this was the tug to be among his own people, to know them, and most important of all, to help his parent’s people in their hour of greatest need. This final point made that pull irresistible.
This is a great set-up for all that's to come, and I feel like it really delves into the pro/con of it. It felt like we didn't get quite so much reasoning as why he'd actually WANT to go on the show.

As he became a better writer and journalist, he pushed her to be better, not only as a journalist, but as a person.
This is great character work! Love the way you're highlighting their progression.

Sure, his reason for leaving was noble, but she didn’t have to like it.
This really sounds like Lois! lol

Quote
They clung to one another, knowing this was the last night on Earth for him.
Such a weightily tinged description!
Quote
He stepped forward, took her in his arms and said, “Ready to make some more memories?”
She gifted him with a brilliant smile, “With you? Always.”
Awww!

Yes, that's our Lois. She doesn't have to take this situation with a smile!

Thank you so much for the comment!

Thanks for a great chapter! I got teary eyed reading it Their last night together was beautiful and sad at the same time. I like that Lois acknowledged that Clark’s reasons for leaving are noble but that she didn’t have to like it. It took a lot of strength and courage for Lois to let him go. I can understand why Clark wouldn’t want to have a child because the child might have to grow up without a father. I just hope Clark eventually comes back.

It was a beautiful, yet heartrending time for Lois and Clark. Here they were only a few days before contemplating their wedding and now he is asked to go to a place he does not know and be with a people he barely understands. Lois is understandably upset, but she is willing to sacrifice time with the man she loves to support his decision. They are both to be respected and admired.

Clark definitely wants to be there for any children he has. I suspect that is part of the reason why he went to try and understand the people and culture of Krypton.

Will he come back? wink
