This is a great set-up for all that's to come, and I feel like it really delves into the pro/con of it. It felt like we didn't get quite so much reasoning as why he'd actually WANT to go on the show.
As he became a better writer and journalist, he pushed her to be better, not only as a journalist, but as a person.
This is great character work! Love the way you're highlighting their progression.

Such a weightily tinged description!
