#11 A friend introduced me to Christmas crackers but I didn’t know they were a British tradition. They are fun! Thanks for another wonderful story! I love this series!

#12 I love it! An Australian Christmas Metropolis style is sweet. Clark is doing everything he can to bring the magic of Christmas to Lois. Lois might be on to something about Clark having another secret identity as Santa. I can see Clark filling in for Santa one year and he wouldn’t even need the reindeer! Thanks for making me smile!

#13 That was beautiful! The quote below is one of my favorite lines. There’s a lot of truth to it.

“You were right. Sometimes light is about more than just candles. It’s about showing up, about making a difference where you can.”

Clark is all about helping and making a difference. I think Clark gets back as much as he gives, maybe even more.

I’m glad that Lois is getting past her grinch phase of Christmas.

Thank you! I love this series and your characterizations of Lois and Clark.

P.S. I started to click ahead and the messages are funny. I also got a kick out of the edits. The entire advent calendar is just brilliant! I love it!

#11 The Christmas cracker reminded me so much of Harry Potter's Christmas parties. Love that they're baking again and apparently, Lois is getting better.

#12 So sweet that Lois is taking care of tired Clark. Loving this. And a indoor beach picnic was just a cute idea.

#13 St. Lucia is a lovely Swedish custom. Just read Petterson und Findus to my son today, with the cat carrying a candle on his head. Great to have Lois and Clark help out as well.

It's never too dark to be cool. cool

#14 The lanterns are a lovely Christmas tradition. I like how “they’re a reminder that even when times are tough, people come together to share hope.” I also like how Lois wants to continue some of these traditions. She’s definitely finding the joy of Christmas.

Lois is right, Clark is a sap but that’s part of what makes him so charming.

I can’t wait for tomorrow’s story! I love this series! Thank you!

Hi Kathryn!
December 6th
Quote
Naughty list alert! Not even Kryptonian powers can get you out of trouble for jumping ahead.
CLARK: I never *ONCE* jumped ahead. I always made sure Lois got there first.
LOIS: /jots down ‘satisfied’ on naughty list/ angel-devil

Quote
“children clean their shoes and leave them out on the evening of December 5th, hoping Sinterklaas will fill them with treats by morning.“
clap

Quote
Sure enough, Lois found them there. Nestled inside were her favorite chocolate bars and a small, wrapped present.
laugh

Quote
Lois’s grin widened. “A parade, chocolate and you whisking me off on a holiday adventure? Today you’ve outdone yourself again.”
And the parade’s not even in Lois’s honor!

Quote
They followed the sound of music toward the Oude Gracht, Utrecht’s historic canal.
Okay, I gotta ask, do the canal and the city have a shared etymology?

Quote
Clark nodded, his eyes sparkling. “Sinterklaas is all about creating joy. It’s why I thought you’d love it.”
Okay, we so need a story where Lex has to play the giving Santa Clause in a parade, including interacting with children. evil

Quote
“Almond paste,” Clark replied. “It’s a Sinterklaas tradition. Want another?”
shock /googles/ oh dear.

Quote
Lois laughed, reaching for more. “No thanks, I don’t have your metabolism, at this rate I won’t fit into any of my outfits soon.”
laugh Hmm… “Truth, Justice and the Pleasuring of Lois Lane” by Artemis probably was the one about calories and exercise. Or it was a Sue fic. huh

Quote
Clark kissed her forehead, his lips lingering for a moment. “Lois, you make it all worth it. Seeing you smile, hearing your laughter... That’s the best gift I could ever ask for.”
Yes, every day he manages to rescue Lois from the clutches of certain death by an evil-doer’s contraption is a day to celebrate!

Quote
Lois tilted her head back, her eyes shining. “You’re not so bad yourself, Kent. But if you keep being this perfect, you’re setting the bar impossibly high for every Christmas after this.”

Clark chuckled, pulling her closer. “I’ll take that challenge.”
/eyes author expectantly/

Quote
Clark smiled, his voice soft. “Sinterklaas is a symbol of generosity and care for children, for bringing hope and joy. It reminds me that, no matter how uncertain the future feels, there’s always room for hope.”

Lois blinked, his words settling deep in her heart. She turned to him, her voice barely a whisper. “Clark...”
And now I wonder if that’s where the story is headed.

Quote
As they walked along the glowing canal, the little gift nestled safely in Lois’s bag, she felt a quiet kind of joy. For the first time in months, the ache in her heart eased, replaced by the warmth of Clark’s unwavering belief in their future. And for the first time, she let herself believe, too.
Awwww

See you in part seven!

#15 The origins of the Christmas tree is interesting. Gingerbread cookies are the best! My favorite line is:

Clark chuckled, leaning closer. “Stuck with you forever? Lois, that’s why I married you.”

I’m such a sap! I love this series! Thanks for making me smile and helping me get into the Christmas spirit!

First of all: thank you for everyone for reading this little series, especially to those who leave comments. Now to your wonderful FDK smile1

Quote
Oooh, there’s also FDK-FDK
Apparently there's also FDK-FDK-FDK cool

It’s minty!
Aww, shucks - I hoped for pistacchios.

Umm… Lois would be dissatisfied if he did?
He scooped her for a story?

/eyes window/ Nope.
Well, you can see it that way: if you look outside the window, you can't read fanfic, so I second your Nope.

Quote
Maybe he could get her a stuffed Superman doll?
She's missing his warmth, a doll wouldn't really help that much in this case, maybe if the Superman foundation made it giant grain pillows... but that would be hard to stuff in your microwave or oven - wouldn't it?

Quote
Poor dear! At least there’s no expectation of finding chocolate inside.
LOIS: Now that would be just cruel.
As it was stated before - it is good that we're not dealing with season one Lois - she would have opened the bags - all at once - as soon as no one would be near to stop her. peep

Quote
Poor dear!
Yes, fortunately he has Lois to brighten up his day.

Quote
Awwww! Also, is it bad if mind thinks there’s a naughty version of this?
No, not really - I think I would have done one if I had any confidence in writing stuff for the dark side. If anyone feels inspired to write anything from my stories I wouldn't exactly mind.

Quote
Of course it does!
Well, we already established - making her happy makes him happy and that makes his parents happy. So... everyone is happy! Yay!

Quote
Awww, and what a coincidence that Superman’s rescue is happening just when this tradition is told.

Yes, such a coincidence - it is almost as if it was planned this way by someone... whistle

Quote
You know, this could also work with Tempus in the role of Clark and Lois playing the role of the sheaf. She’s wrapped in a red cape, tied to a pole, all ready for Superman to come and find her. Then, Tempus could spring his Kryptonite trap.
But where would be the irony in this?

Quote
The last time I read a snowball fight between Lois and Clark was in Virginia’s Green-Eyed Monster, I think. It did not end up well for Lois. Then, Clark was in big doodoo.
So far no doodoo in sight. :-)

You know, if someone dyslexic reads this, putting “Santa says patience is a virtue” out there that’s just too funny!
Something similar popped into my head as I wrote this...

Quote
SUPERMAN: A five-alarm fire, Lois? You couldn’t just *kiss* me awake?
LOIS: I only made *coffee*!
Well - she never does things half-hearted...

Quote
As long as we’re talking about surprises, I’m thinking her reputation is safe.
I think Clark will make sure her reputation will stay safe as well.

Quote
Right now, it’s a leafless, dried up branch sitting in a vase on Lois’s desk. How does Perry notice that it’s new?
Okay, point taken.
LOIS: Hey! I dddn't kill all of my plants!

Songbird
Iquote] I love sap!! It warms my heart and makes me happy. Thanks for writing this series! It’s just what I need this Christmas season. [/quote]
Actually that made my day - it was exactly the reaction I had hoped for. I wanted to brighten the days of some FoLCs ❤️

This sounds French. But only because who else got croissants? And Kipferl are even less associated with Christmas.
HA! I got you (and Lois 🙃), we're not in France today.

Quote
Like, her mother’s coming for a visit?
Hahaha, but Clark wouldn't be like that, not even when they talk about their mother.

Quote
/points at part 4 and the mention of a cherry blooming before Christmas symbolizing good fortune to come/
So let's get that straight, you think I'm hinting at something here? Well, look at my depiction of Lois, no nausea, no strange vistits to the bathroom, nothing.

Quote
Like they did with Lex?
Exactly.

Quote
this is such a cute way to say “wait for tomorrow for the next part”. And considering the date, I’m thinking German/Austrian St. Nick?
I already used Germany and Austria for other stories and I tried to vary the countries (although it is very much Europes traditions in the first half. The second half of December is spread out more...

Quote
LOIS: I did not make *that* many typos in my article!
PERRY: Well, only if you compare yourself to Ralph...

This is such a lovely piece of a lot of work
I admit, part of the reason that some days appear later than others is that I'm doing some last minute editing. 😅

Stille Nacht is my favorite Christmas Carrol as well. Also, at Lois asking Clark not to join the choir
It is a lovely song. I was a bit hesitant to put that in but it is fanon that Clark can't sing and I wanted it lighthearted and funny, so I left it in.

making pastry from scratch is the best part! I've never made mince pies but I've made plenty of pumpkin and apple and there is something oh so satisfying when the pastry rolls out just right (and so frustrating when it tears that you want to throw the whole mess at the wall! 😆)
Yeah, I love working in the kitchen, it is nice to see when the things you create work out. If they don't look perfect I always tell our patients (I work as a nutritionist in a clinic) to tell everyone who is dissatisfied "This is how it has to be, it is homemade!" 😅

Songbird
I didn't know christmas crackers before, but I think we had a similar tradition for new years eve, when I was little.

bakasi
Well, Lois has Clark next to her, I do believe that she can cook, from what is shown in the series. All she needed was the right teacher and the right motivation. 🙃

Clark would be the ideal Santa, but he already has a secret identity, I don't think he could make another one work.
Planning the Australian story was difficult. Due to time difference a visit to Australia would have been difficult, even on a weekend, I think. So I tried to make it work in Metropolis.

bakasi
They are there for each other and I wanted the stories to vary at the start and the end... also it wouldn't be realistic to have absolutely no mention of Superman rescues or Planet stories in the series.

And we all love Clark for being a sap, sometimes. 😄

We went to Riga with the family five years ago, they even have a christmas tree monument. There are several other places where the tree could have origniated. Years ago I heard the tradiiton came from the Celts, who brought branches of certain trees in and that it was a tradition to keep away evil spirits.

Again, thank you all for reading and commenting. And @Darth Michael I didn't forget your last FDK but I'll keep it for the next round of FDK-FDK. I already read it and enjoyed it very much. Thanks.

#17 Thanks for this lovely fic! Being kind comes so naturally to Clark. He’s right:
“It’s not about grand gestures or gifts. Sometimes, just being present and showing kindness is enough.”

I love the sentiment in this story. Being kind is easy to do and doesn’t cost anything. I can’t wait for tomorrow’s fic! Thank you!

Okay, I gotta ask, do the canal and the city have a shared etymology?
I don’t think so. *oude* means old and *gracht* means canal. The name Utrecht comes from *Uut* - downriver and *trecht* is a version from the roman word Traiectum, which is, as far as I understand a hint to the city being built at a rhine crossing. But I had to look it up, I might be wrong. 😅

If it helped his public image, he’d do it.

#20 I like the sentiment of this tradition. Finding joy in the little things and facing challenges together is spot on. Clark has done a good job of sharing different cultural Christmas traditions with Lois. It has been fun seeing her come to love Christmas. I can’t wait for tomorrow! I love this series! Thank you!

#21 This was lovely. The following seems appropriate to Lois and Clark’s relationship from the beginning.

“It means when you truly desire something, no challenge feels too great. You’ll find a way, no matter how hard it seems.”

I’m hoping Lois’s suspicion comes true. She just might have the perfect addition to the advent calendar. I can’t wait for tomorrow! Regardless how this plays out, I love this series!! It has been a joy to read and has brought much happiness to my life this holiday season. Thank you!
