WELCOME BACK!

Quote
As Kal chopped the vegetables, the rhythmic sound of the knife against the cutting board echoed in the kitchen, punctuated by the occasional sizzle as he added them to the pan. Each movement was deliberate, a testament to the newfound pace of his life in Moore.

From the very opening lines I was impressed by the sounds of Kal's life. Also, since we are talking about an episode where Clark becomes blind I got a little nervous. Than you mention his life in Moore and the entire thing came together. Yikes. help

Quote
The scent of coffee drifted through the air as a nearby colleague set their cup down with a soft thunk against their desk. The rhythmic tapping of keyboards filled the space around him, but Kal felt oddly removed from it, as if he were listening through a filter, just a step removed from the world moving forward without him. The steady pulse of newsroom activity should have felt grounding, but today, it only highlighted the disconnect.

A newsroom, unfortunately, not The Daily Planet's newsroom. Especially since there is no mention of news monitors.

Anderson scoffed. “Not a chance. Your article caught fire.” He leaned against the desk, clearly pleased with himself. “I told you, Ellis, you’ve got a voice people pay attention to. No point trying to avoid the spotlight now.”

But that was exactly what Kal had been trying to do.

Intriguing. Will keep an eye out for this one.

A writer's job is to think of new plots and create characters who stay with you long after the final page has been read. If that mission is accomplished than we have done what we set out to do, which is to entertain and hopefully educate.

I like the tone of this one. I think I remember one other fic where Clark doesn't heal after being blinded and he was severely depressed. This Clark seems to have settled into his new reality. He's still a reporter, even if he can no longer be Superman. And apparently his work is still worthy of a Kerth award.

I like the atmosphere you're here. How his invitation to the awards is shaking up his world.

That was the part of the other one that made it hard for me to write. When I started it, I was severely depressed so it was easy for me to tap into that; however, once I got help and wasn't in 'that place' anymore, I was stuck on where to go with the story. Not to mention that I was afraid to allow myself to go back to 'that place' for the sake of finishing a story. I'm hoping my time away from it will allow me to continue working on (improving) it. I didn't realize how much I had grown in my writing until I went back and read that story. It was definitely narration heavy and didn't show nearly as many things as it should have. Thanks for giving this story a shot. I truly appreciate it!
