Lois & Clark Episode Draft # 1
(At Thompson Technologies...Melanie Collins installs a bug in
Christopher's office to listen in on their conversation and
hides in the closet before Christopher walks in to his office)
Christopher (buzzes his secretary on his intercom):
Julie, can you please send Lori to my office right away? It's important.
Julie:
Yes sir, Mr. Thompson.
(A few seconds later, Lori comes into her father's office)
Lori:
Julie said you wanted to see me?
Christopher:
Yes I did. A friend of mine at the Daily Planet asked us to be a part of his communications department. He's holding a business party tonight at 9:00. Are you interested?
Lori:
Of course! I didn't know we had any connections?
Christopher:
Perry White and I go way back into our college days studying journalism and technology in the same classes. We've been good friends for many years. Anyways, his communications department is looking for a new image in finding information, so I told him about our satellite link around the world and made his decision about us being partners. What do you think?
Lori:
This could show the world a new breakthrough in technology that no one has ever seen before.
Christopher:
So, are you accepting my offer or not?
Lori:
Dad, of course! I would be honored to join the Daily Planet. This could brighten up a whole new future for us and the company.
Christopher:
Great. I have some errands I have to do but I'll send the limo over to pick you up for the party.
(Christopher and Lori leave the office. Melanie comes
out of the closet, in disguise as a computer programmer)
Melanie:
That's what you think, my dear. Once I've taken care of your father's company, I will be happy to collect my 20 million he was supposed to give me, instead of you. If you ever find out about your mysterious aunt, I'll personally see that both of you, and the Daily Planet go out of business forever!!!!
At the Daily Planet
Clark:
Have you heard about the good news from Perry, yet?
Jimmy:
What good news?
Clark:
Thompson Technologies is helping us with our communications department.
Jimmy:
You mean that multi-million dollar company?
Lois:
I've been doing research on the president and I found out that he's the fourth richest man in the world. He also donates thousands of dollars to different charities every year.
Clark:
That's great. Are you going to the party tonight, Lois?
Lois:
Maybe. What about you, Jimmy?
Jimmy:
You bet. This is my big chance to get an interview with the vice-president, Lori Thompson.
Clark:
Isn't she the same age as you?
Jimmy:
Yeah. I think she's the most gorgeous woman I've ever seen in my entire life.
(At the party.....Lori arrives in the limo and her father greets her at the door)
Christopher:
You look marvelous, Lori.
Lori:
Thanks, Dad. So do you.
Christopher:
Shal we?
(Lori and Christopher walk in the main floor to the ballroom)
Perry:
Christopher! Over here!
(Christopher and Lori walk over to Lois, Perry, Jimmy and Clark)
(Christopher and Perry shake hands)
Christopher:
Perry White! How long has it been?
Perry:
Many years, old chum. Great to see you.
Christopher:
You remember my daughter Lori?
Perry:
Of course. I haven't seen Lori since she was a little girl. How are you?
Lori:
I'm fine thank you, Mr. White.
Perry:
Please, call me Perry. I would like to introduce you both to some of my best reporters. This is Clark Kent, Lois Lane and Jimmy Olsen. This is Christopher and his daughter Lori Thompson.
Clark:
Please to meet you.
Lois:
Same here.
Lori:
Like wise I'm sure.
Jimmy:
Enchante
(Jimmy kisses Lori's hand)
(The waiter brings the champagne glasses)
Lori:
I would like to propose a toast. To Mr. White, Lois, Clark and Jimmy. May our success with the Daily Planet bring good news for the future of all mankind.
All:
Cheers!
(They clink champagne glasses)
Jimmy:
Would you like to dance, Lori?
Lori:
I would love to.
(Jimmy and Lori leave to go dancing)
Christopher:
Those two make a cute couple, don't you think?
Perry:
I agree with you 100 percent. So, how's the family?
Christopher:
My wife, Melanie and I got divorced a few years ago.
Perry:
I'm sorry to hear that. How are you and Lori coping?
Christopher:
Things are fine for now but we both can manage. Lori graduated from university a few months ago and I'm very proud of her.
Perry:
You should be, with a daughter as beautiful as yours. She has such a bright future ahead of her.
Lois:
You look very familiar. Haven't we met somewhere before?
Christopher:
I don't think so but I've read a lot of your work and I'm very impressed.
Lois:
Why, thank you.
(Clark comes in to the conversation)
Clark:
Lois, would you like to dance?
Lois:
Sure.
(Christopher observes Lois and has an expression on his
face making him smile like never before)
Perry:
Boy, you look as if a whole herd of clowns ran over you. Are you alright?
Christopher:
I'm fine, thanks to Lois Lane.
On the dance floor...
Lori:
So, what would a good looking man like you be doing for a newspaper such as the Daily Planet?
Jimmy:
I'm a photojournalist. I've been with the Planet for many years now and to tell you the truth, it's the job of a lifetime. What's it like working at a famous company like your father's?
Lori:
I've always dedicated my work into improving new ideas for the future. I was wondering if you would like to go to dinner tomorrow night?
Jimmy:
I would love to.
Lori:
Great. Let me pick the place and time and I'll call you tomorrow?
Jimmy:
Great.
(The song ends)
(Lori and Jimmy come back from the dance floor)
Christopher:
I'm sorry that we've been here for such a short time but Lori and I have other engagements to attend to. It's been great seeing you again, Perry.
Perry:
Same here.
Lori:
It was a pleasure meeting you all. I hope we can see eachother, soon?
Clark:
I would like that a lot?
Lois:
Clark?
(Clark laughs)
Lois:
I hope we can get to know each other better and possibly become friends.
Lori:
That would be very nice. I've gotta go.
(Lori and Christopher are walking to the limo)
Lori:
That Jimmy Olsen is some guy!
Christopher:
What do you think?
Lori:
Dad, I think I've found the man of my dreams!
Christopher:
That's wonderful! My daughter has finally found someone she likes.
(Lori has a smile on her face)
Lori:
I saw that smile you gave Lois as she left to dance with Clark Kent. Is something going on that I should know about?
Christopher:
No, Lori. Everything's just fine.
Perry:
Alright gang, we have to finish the evening edition before our customers start ringing the phones off the hook!
(Lori walks in Perry's office)
Perry:
Lori! So nice to see you. What are you doing here?
Lori:
I was on my break so I decided to drop by and see how everything's going.
Perry:
Would you like a personal tour of the Daily Planet?
Lori:
It would be an honor.
(Jimmy suddenly runs into Perry's office)
Jimmy:
Sorry to disturb you, Chief, but I saw Lori and just happened to stop by to say hello.
Perry:
Your timing couldn't be more perfect, Jimmy. Could you give Lori the grand tour of the Planet and show her how we run a world-class newspaper?
Jimmy:
Sure thing, chief.
(Clark calls his mother at her farmhouse in Smallville.
Martha hears the phone ringing and picks it up)
Martha:
Hello?
Clark:
Hi, mom. How are you?
Martha:
I'm fine, Clark. How's everything at the Planet?
Clark:
Busy as usual.
Martha:
How is Lois?
Clark:
She's fine. I couldn't be more happier. Where's dad?
Martha:
He's in the barn, cleaning out some old junk we've been keeping for years.
Clark:
Could you tell him I said hi?
Martha:
I sure will. By the way, who owns that computer business we've all been hearing about?
Clark:
A man by the name of Christopher Thompson and his daughter, Lori.
Martha:
Do you think this partnership will improve the Planet?
Clark:
According to Perry, it should. I'll call you later, alright?
Martha:
Sure, Clark. Take care.
Clark:
You too. Bye.
(Martha and Clark hang up the phone)
(Jimmy and Lori walk around the building)
Lori:
Thanks for the tour, Jimmy. I really appreciate it.
Jimmy:
It was my pleasure.
Lori:
Is dinner still on?
Jimmy:
You bet. Where are we going?
Lori:
That, will be a surprise. Meet me at Thompson Technologies around eight o'clock. I have some projects to finish up.
Jimmy:
That sounds great.
(The next scene begins with Jimmy, entering Thompson Technologies.
Jimmy sits down in the main lobby. Lori's personal secretary,
Julie, notifies Lori in her office)
(Lori hears a buzz on her intercom)
Lori:
Yes, Julie? Who is it?
Julie:
It's that reporter from the Daily Planet, Jimmy Olsen.
Lori:
Thanks. I'll be right down.
(Lori leaves the office and doesn't even know that her mother's in
the building, undetected and hides in Lori's closet. Lori then
exits the elevator and greets Jimmy in the front lobby)
Lori:
Are you leaving soon, Julie.
Julie:
Yes, Miss Thompson.
Lori:
I'll be gone for the rest of the evening.
Julie:
Have a wonderful time.
Lori:
Thanks, Julie. I'll see you in my office, tomorrow morning so we can go over next month's schedule.
(At Chez Pierre, Jimmy and Lori are sitting at a romantic table
for two. Lori is sipping on wine. While Jimmy is finishing his dinner)
Jimmy:
Don't mind me asking but are your parents married or divorced?
Lori:
Divorced.
Jimmy:
Oh, I'm sorry to hear that.
