I never did understand those stupid tests. Kal-El was first First Lord, whether he was worthy or not. Lord Nor certainly wasn't worthy of being next in line. And Ching was being an donkey's behind.

The show focuses primarily on Lois' distress at Clark's departure. But of course this would be incredibly painful to Martha and Jonathan as well. This is their
child.
The silence became so horrible Clark found himself extending his hearing in search for something other than the heavy thumps of his parent's hearts. A stray cat hunting crickets in the tall grass of the lawn, the lazy shuffling of Old Betsy in the barn, the cries of an owl in the woods beyond the fields.
