I liked it a lot--enough to read it again, because I was totally fooled the first time, darn it! Serves me right for breezing through. Good job Jojo.

If you're "not a writer" I don't want to know what I am. You literally had me guessing until "innocent soul". I had thought it was Clark thinking about Lex, but I didn't think Lois would call Lex an innocent soul.

Wonderful insight into Trask.

Ok I loved it.

And this:

I'm not a writer, but sometimes I like to pretend I am.
makes me laugh because while it may be true about me a majority of the time, you just didn't make it into the category with this one! I was totally fooled into thinking it was Lex.

Cheers,
JD

Eh. I bet if we did a poll, a lot of us would say we're not writers either. I'm not. I'm an "Automated Test Specialist". The rest is me pretending that I know what I'm doing. So, maybe my Poker face is good... *lol*

I already told Jojo, when I took a looksy at the story before she posted it, but for the benefit of the masses... I thought the guy at the beginning of the story was Clark and the generous dude was Luthor, but the silliest thing is that when I read "uniform", I got it in my head that Clark was in the army. How crazy is that? I was totally fooled! And I *love* being totally fooled, like that!!

Great work, Jojo! smile

I think that you've got something there - how Trask really thinks of himself. He genuinely believes he's serving a higher cause - he's mistaken, but he isn't lying.

I totally missed the uniform part. Might have caught on sooner if I hadn't. Again, wonderful writing.

Well, I thought of a red-and-blue uniform with a red cape and a little red and yellow on the chest. You got me totally by surprise, Jojo!

Hah! This was great, Jojo! You totally had me fooled! I knew because of the challenge that there was going to be a twist, but I still didn't have it figured out!!!

Remeber the old LIFE cereal commercials with Mikey? You know the one where they kids don't think he will like it and then when he does they shout: "He likes it! He likes it!" That's kinda how I'm feeling right now. LOL

I'm glad I could fool you all! It was what I was going for. I saw the challenge yesterday morning and on the way to work I started pondering it. It wasn't until I got into a discussion with someone at work about the fact that there is always someone from every religion that goes a bit crazy and fanatical that I understood Trask. He was a bit crazy but you knew that he was doing it because he really believed in his cause.

I mean if I believed angry aliens were going to come attack my family I might be a little disturbed and do everything to stop it as well. Of course we all know he was misguided and evil in the end but it was an interesting angle to write.

I'm glad I was able to put you in his shoes for a second... even if it was to fool you into them. laugh I know when I read a story about the bad guy I have a hard time putting myself in his position.

Lara: Yeah on the uniform bit. I knew it had to be named something other than suit or costume... but I still wanted people to think it was Clark. So I used uniform. smile I see a lot of people missed that one though the first time around.

Woody: Innocent soul... yeah she wouldn't have ever called him that. She would have probably said that Lex was a buisness man and that sometimes he would have to be a little ruthless. Superman she could say that about. Especially at this point in the series. I don't know if she would say innocent soul though after the whole lead lined robe comment...

And to everyone who remarked about my not being a writer comment. I'm really not! No really! Everything I have ever written has been very tiny. I can't seem to write anything bigger than 1,000 words for any fandom I'm in. Plus it all comes in spurts and I can nver just sit down and make myself write. I have a funny comidic piece I'm working on for LnC and for the last month I haven't been able to get past the first page. wave

Jojo, this was great. What's this "not a writer" nonsense? You're brilliant. I hope your muse visits again soon.

That was great, Jo! You had me guessing the whole time. Oh and if you're not a writer, you should "pretend" to be one more often. wink
