I, too, loved it. I hope Lois will boost his self-confidence and make him feel better about himself. Tell me, though - does she really have to return to Metropolis?

The Lois of nine years in the future (when they met in the series pilot) would never have allowed sentiment to interfere with her purpose. She would not have allowed herself to feel compassion for someone who has been shunned for reasons unknown to her, reasons which might actually be valid. She would not have let her guard down and allowed the Kents to touch her heart so quickly.

No, that Lois would have rented another car or bought a train ticket or hired a helicopter to get out of Kansas as fast as she could. She would have bid goodbye to the rustic life and never looked in the rear-view mirror to see what she was leaving behind her.

This is an excellent look at a younger, more vulnerable (though not much more trusting) Lois, one whose shields aren't fully formed yet. Please keep up the good work and let us know how this litle interlude in both of their lives turns out!

Still reading... looks like she's snowed in for another week... anything could happen in a week. smile

That yearbook was shocking. That somebody would be angry enough at Clark to deface it like that is... well, kinda unhealthy. And I do have to wonder why he's kept it. Is there enough good stuff in there to justify keeping the ugliness, too?

Hopefully Lois will help him concentrate on the good, and maybe even give a few people a piece of her mind smile

I still feel so horrible about Clark. We all know he's just a big teddy bear, so it's hurts to see people hating him.

Nice chapter!

I think you're so right, which was why it was sort of refreshing to be able to write a Lois who hadn't been hurt so badly and who wouldn't go to such lengths to leave. Thanks for the insightful comment. smile1 Made my day.

Poor Clark! frown That yearbook was really mean.
This is a great story though thumbsup
I love how Clark got an article published already... and Lois's admiring it was great laugh
