Sorry I haven't provided feedback yet, but I've been reading and am enjoying your story so far. I was a big Remington Steele fan (and have recently watched some episodes again on DVD) and your characterizations between Remington and Laura are right on.
- and her dig at Remington when he insists on waiting for Laura to start was both in character to the show and an interesting commentary on how our society still sees women in the workplace. Times may have changed a lot since the mid-80's when the show was on, but I don't think it's a stretch to believe that Laura still isn't taken seriously in a 'man's' profession even today. LNC:tNAoS hinted at the issue as well and Lois' fight to be the best in journalism certainly attests that the prejudices remain.
“You’re THE Lois Lane.” She asked, her admiration unmistakably emanating from her face. “Not the same Lois Lane who gave a speech on, “Woman in Dangerous Professions”, at UC Berkley eight months ago?”
I love it that Laura recognizes Lois, however, shouldn't Lois have been a bit more suspicious that an insurance salesman ... woman ... person would be going to a "Women in Dangerous Professions" seminar? What's so dangerous about insurance? Oh, and Remington Steele was always in the papers in LA. Wouldn't Lois have recognized him, or at least have some niggle at the back of her mind when she looks at him?
I figure that Lois and Laura will join forces sooner, rather than later. Laura certainly wouldn't wait too long to find out what the media might know about those mysteriously glowing gems.

ACK! A slur against Mildred? Them's fightin' words!
Keep up with the good work. I wait anxiously for part 7.
