“The truth is,” Clark started matter-of-factly, then his voice wavered and he felt some of the words catch in his throat. “Superman may be going to New Krypton and, if he does, I'm going along with him.”
CLARK!! You, you, you... coward!

Quote
“I understand perfectly.” She threw back sharply. “This is like the heat-wave all over again. You just keep choosing him over me! So go, follow your idol, but don't expect me to be waiting here for you!”
Ouch!

Quote
His hands came up, gripping the edges of his shirt and pulling them apart to expose the symbol of truth underneath. “I am Superman.”
Jessi! Get your butt back here now! You can't leave us hanging like this!

This is a very cool twist on canon. I like Clark's gentle revelation to Lois (as opposed to Clark jumping in front of a javelin aimed at Lois), and I can't wait to see how she reacts. I suspect it's going to be very interesting to see.

And I don't think that Clark's "lying" is totally wrong. If Lois is going to share his life, she definitely has to know, but if she's more enamored of Superman than in love with Clark, then she doesn't. And that's not an easy call to make.

I do think that the timing in this story is exactly right, Jessi, because I definitely think that he waited too long in the series - although it certainly afforded more dramatic possibilities for the writers, and more chances to torture the viewing audience.

If Clark had asked me my opinion, I would have told him not to go. The marriage to Zara wasn't binding to someone raised outside Kryptonian culture, and Clark had his own life on Earth to consider. It frustrated me that they couldn't come up with some other solution, somthing that would destroy Nor's political power and leave Clark with Lois. More torture, I guess.

I hope the next chapter doesn't take as long to post. I almost missed this one!

Thanks for the support, everyone. I've been feeling pretty "blah" about this story. Things aren't going quite the way I pictured them (which is why it's taking me so long), but that's not necessarily a bad thing. So it's really good to hear that people are enjoying it!

I'm so glad you think that. I wasn't sure if I wanted him to tell her now or keep putting it off, but Lara insisted now would be the best time, and she was right!

Thank you so much you all!
Jessi
