Quote
“Hi Lois, was wondering when you’d get in, just park in back of me, I’m the grey Toyota right there on the left, I’m not going anywhere anytime soon.”
“Ahh, Thanks Ahh” was all Lois could get out.

The blonde smiled, “Don’t remember me? That’s OK, we didn’t really meet, just traded partners a few times at the corn festival, I’m Lana Lang.....
=====
Lana smiled and gestured and Lois slid her rental car in behind the Toyota.

A sonic boom occurred.

“Sounds like Clark’s back” said Lana
As they walked toward the Kent farmhouse Lois couldn't understand what she was feeling. She wanted to be angry at Clark for lying to her and she wanted to leap for joy that he wasn't dead.

She was, however, unwilling to let Lana know she hadn't known Clark was Superman. She came up for air at something Lana said.

"What did you say?"

"Sorry I'm just rambling on..." replied Lana

"No really, please,"

"Oh, well plausibility seems to be on everyone's mind. How can we explain Clark not calling in? Or showing up at one of the local hospitals? They all have to report shooting victims,..."

"Wait, hold that thought!" Lois was overcome with joy, something she could do, YES!

Lois flipped on her new cell phone.
"Service!" rapidly punches some numbers, waits while it rings.

"Let me talk to Louie, tell him it's his tennis pro"

Waits

"Hey, kid sorry to hear about your partner ..."

Lois interrupts him "I need a favor, he may not be dead, can you put the word out that you're looking for a Jerry Kay or Charlie King who may have been shot without letting on that it's Clark?"

"Sure thing kid, my prayers 'll be with you"

He hangs up.

Lois again punches some numbers.

"Bobby, it's Lois, I need any thing you can find about a man who was shot, may be using Jerry Kay or Charlie King or some variation"

Several minutes and another half dozen calls later she placed the cell back in her purse and smiled, her first real smile in the sixteen some hours since Clark Kent was shot.

"Plausibility shouldn't be a problem, half of Metropolis will hear about my search. At least three of those guys couldn't keep their mouth shut if their own life depended on it."

Lana Lang was watching her with a huge smile of her own.

"And here I thought some of the tales about you were exaggerated."

"What tales? Who's telling them?"

The two started moving toward the farmhouse again.

==================
I was rereading ML Thompson's The Second Stage of Grief and I kept thinking "Why involve Sam?"

Quote
"And since I was found in Suicide Slum, this person figured it
was some sort of gang or drug-related shooting," said Clark,
suddenly seeing a small amount of hope. "And so he decided not
to take me to a hospital - in case I wouldn't want the police
notified."

"Exactly! So he took you to my dad."
I like part of the solution but why include Sam? Why include anyone? In her story it has been weeks so I suppose they need a more detailed story, but Sam?"

Since plausibility seemed to be the issue, and don't get me started on the show's idea of plausibility....

After all a reporter doesn't reveal his sources, why should Clark reveal what shadowy underworld Doctor helped him?
