“Where the hell am I?!”

Part 4/?

Lois had been at the planet waiting for him to come back from his lunch with *her* for over three hours. How long do people usually take when having lunch? <Why does it matter to you Lois? Thought you said you didn’t care about him> and she didn’t care. It was just that they had a meeting with Bobby and she needed his help with carrying the food…or something. <Are you sure it’s not because you want to find out about Clark and a certain lady named Chris Pratt? > NO! She needed help with the food and nothing more – although it would be a complete coincidence if she brought her up.

Sighing she turned around in her chair and looked at the people working. Well Jimmy was no help. Just because they’re neighbors, it doesn’t mean they can’t be anything else.

Eying the phone she thought about calling him and asking when he would be back. As she reached to pick up the phone, and start dialing,

“Lois! Aren’t you supposed to go and meet your source?”

“What? Uhh, yeah. I was just waiting for Clark so that-“ she said while bending to grab the phone from the floor.

“Forget about Clark honey, he’s not coming. You should go without him.”

“What? Why?”

“I don’t know, he said something about a friend coming over or something… Lois where are you going?”

<Wow Lois, all this because you need his help with carrying the food? >

“Hey Lois, I’m glad you’re here. I just got this hot tip about the senato-” started bobby as he started rummaging through the food in Lois’s car in front of the restaurant

“Forget the senator, I have a new assignment for you. Get me everything you know about Chris Pratt.”

“Who’s he?”

“She. It’s a she. And she’s a reporter.”

“Too much competition for you to handle?” asked bobby with a smirk.

“Just keep your eyes and ears open and get me everything you can about her, will ya?” replied back Lois as she started the car. Bobby recognized the subtle hint and took that as his cue to leave.

“Sure thing Lois. I’ll call ya when I have anything newsworthy.”

“Anything bobby. It doesn’t have to be newsworthy. I wanna know everything about our little friend.” Lois finished as she left bobby in the parking lot.

Christina kept flicking through channels on Clarks’ T.V while she waited for him to come back from his ‘little outing’. When she failed to find something good to watch, she went back to the news channel that was covering Superman. He made it seem so easy, thought Chris as she saw him effortlessly pick up the cars and put them at a safe distance from civilians.

Feeling slightly awestruck she answered the phone with her mind still on the news.

“Kent residence.”

“Would you mind telling me why you’re not answering your page?”

“Mike! How did you get this number?” whispered Chris while unconsciously looking over her shoulder at the shadows in the apartment.

“That’s not important. The important thing is the reason why you’re not answering your page. I was starting to get worried.” Replied the man on the phone.

“It’s in the bedroom.”

“I told you before, and I’ll tell you again. Always keep the pager with you. What if it was an emergency?”

“Is it an emergency?” asked Chris.

“No, but that’s not the point...”

“Why are you whispering?” whispered Chris.

“Because you were whispering…” Chris smiled widely and rolled her eyes at that.

“Never mind that. Is nine-thirty in the morning tomorrow good for you?” he said trying to keep the subject on track, when all of a sudden Chris heard a slight thump behind her. Panicking, she tried to end the conversation before Clark gets the chance to hear anything.

“Fine, I’ll meet at the café in front of the Daily Planet. I gotta go.” She said as she hung up just in time as Clark emerged from the bedroom wearing his regular clothes without his glasses.

“Who were you talking to?” asked Clark on his way to the kitchen.

“Uhh… wrong number.” Replied Chris following Clark to the kitchen. She found him in front of the fridge inspecting a jar filled with something that she couldn’t see, but saw him grimace after opening it and seeing inside it. He turned and threw the jar into the trash.

“Saw what you did with the car pile-up, superman. It was really impressive.” Said Chris with amusement as she went and sat on the counter top next to him.

“Thanks…” answered Clark automatically as he took out a juice box and took a gulp of it.

“Augh!!” groaned Clark with a look that definitely meant the juice had passed its’ expiration date for a long time.

“Thank god nobody drank from it.” Laughed Chris at the face Clark made.

“Thank god I’m invulnerable.” Exclaimed Clark as he also threw the juice in the trash and moved to drink some tap water without bothering with using a glass.

Chris laughed even harder when she saw his bent body stand straight again and saw him gurgle and bending to drink more water after spitting the water that was already in his mouth.

“Remind me to clean and re-stock that thing.” as he stood and wiped his mouth with the back of his hand.

Chuckling, Chris replied and a faint “Sure.” when they heard knocking on the door. Chris slid down the counter and went to the bedroom to retrieve her pager, while Clark went to answer the door. “Don’t forget your glasses, Clark.” Chris reminded him as she passed him on her way to the room.

Clark picked up his glasses from the coffee table as he went to open the door. He was wondering who it could be at the door, but he should have known that it could only be…

“Lois.”
