Remember that this was the mid-ninties. No buying glasses frames off the internet...

What do you think?

You go Lisa. I don't trust Lana either. Come on Clark and Lois quite dancing around each other.
All and all very good story keep it up. smile1

I will and always be a big fan of Lois and Clark forever and forever.

I hate that you leave us with on of these cliffhangers every time! I love this story but I swear Shayne, you're gonna kill us!

I'm really enjoying your story. I have to wonder what made Lana into the person she is? There must have been some redeeming qualities at some point right?

I can't wait to see how Lois finds out about who really is Lisas Dad.

Don't think about the pink elephant... I dare you!

I don't know where you're going with this, but I'm willing to follow your story (almost) everywhere.

Hi Shayne,

I'm still sticking with your story and I had to leave fdk on the introduction of Lana Lang Luthor.

I'm sure she wasn't quite so haggard and witch like when Clark married her, as we know that he was fooled into thinking she was a decent person. That means that she's since declined. Now these bracelets of kryptonite do infect people, as I think Joshua told Lisa. So, does Lana have kryptonite poisoning? Just wondering aloud here. smile

Anyway, this story is very interesting and it's holding my attention, though I could do without some of the cliff-hangers! wink

Looking forward to the rest of this story and not exactly patiently. Oh, and I promise to try to comment more often.

Yours Jenni

Lisa stiffened as she noticed someone staring at them. A blonde woman wearing a big hat. She'd always thought it was polite to take hats off indoors, but it didn't seem to bother this woman.

Her first impression of the woman was hair. She could barely see her face due to the profusion of blonde hair. Huge sunglasses covered her eyes, and her lips were covered in a lipstick that was startlingly red.

Even from here, Lisa could smell the scent of cigarettes. It didn't seem to bother her mother, who was usually sensitive about these sorts of things, so Lisa assumed it was another one of those things she shared with her father.

Worse though was the vague smell of rot. There was something about this woman that wasn't right, and Lisa had an uneasy feeling it was some sort of sickness.

The woman rose slowly to her feet and Lisa could see that she was painfully thin. Her dress was beautiful. It reminded Lisa of something she'd seen Audrey Hepburn wearing in an old musical.
This description is as fascinating as it is horrifying, Shayne. All that blonde hair makes me think of a wig. And a wig makes me think of a bald head. And a bald head makes me think of Luthor. Lana Lang Luthor, eh?

A bald head also makes me think of cancer. In the comics in the late eighties, Lex Luthor got cancer because he had been wearing a kryptonite ring. Has Lana got cancer? And if so, did she get it from keeping kryptonite close to herself?

Quote
Perhaps it was just that she could hear the blood pumping furiously through the woman's veins, and her heart pumping rapidly. Although she appeared to be calm on the surface, she sounded like a woman who was furiously angry.

The woman smiled, and although Lisa couldn't see it because of the sunglasses, she knew the smile didn't reach the woman's eyes.

“I'm sure we're all going to be the best of friends.”

Lisa didn't have to hear the woman's heart racing to know that was a lie.
Lana hates Lisa! Is it because she feels that she herself should have been the one who had Superman's child? What happened to Lana anyway? Is Clark in any way responsible for her bad health and childlessness?

This is totally captivating, Shayne. I've said it so many times before, and I have to say it again: This is a fantastic story.

The ashtray coming out of the darkness almost caught him by surprise, but he’d been waiting for something like it. He flinched out of the way and it shattered on the doorframe beside him. He felt a trickle of liquid against his ear and realized he was bleeding.

Clark tapped on a button and the window between them and the chauffeur began to rise. Lois could see the man staring at them through the rear view mirror, a fresh looking scar on his eyebrow raised.
So the chauffeur is the mole.

Lana, what a nice sweet lady. Not.

Lisa getting several hundred dollar frames. So long as she doesn't get snobby.

Hi Shayne. I have really enjoyed reading your story so far.

What I loved:
a)clark - he seems to have a lot more depth than the clark i am used to. The other clark was just so ..good... and this one has been tainted by some of the more bitter aspects to life
b)i totally love laura and this introduction to what it would be like growing up with these crazy powers. That really had me giggling at the thought.

I was, and perhaps am still a but suspicious of Joshua - why is he still involved in Clarks life? why does he get to be privy to clarks deepest darkest secrets? i would like to know more about their relationship.

and eek i hate lana and wish she was never ever a part of clarks life...i can't wait to see what evil things you get her doing

cheers, em
ps. this is my first post ever!

pps. when do lois and clark get together!?? post more please!! laugh

Lois: Clark, you don't have to be embarrassed. That's what friends are for. Just tell me how much.
Clark: Lois, I want you to go out with me!

Shayne - fantastic chapter. I'm enjoying your portrayal of Lisa and her hopes for her mom and dad to get together. I think that's so common of children that have parents that have separated for one reason or another - it just rarely works out the way. I'm hoping things will work out for Lois and Clark, though.

um, I think I'm A-plot challenged. Do you believe that I didn't even notice this bit while I was reading? blush
Makes sense though. How else would Lana just happen to be at the restaurant at the exact time that Clark ventures out of his secluded lifestyle.

It'll be interesting if you show Lana has brought some red or green K. With the way Clark is hunched over, I'm not sure if it's just his conditioned response to her or if she has some of the nasty stuff with her.

I doubt it'll be green - that'll give Clark's secret away faster than I think you're willing to. But if she's brought red K, Lois might start to figure things out quickly too. She's seen the way it affects Lisa and if she sees some of the same behavior in Clark, she'll put the pieces together. If nothing else, Lois would figure out that the Kryptonite she's been hired to find is in Lana's posession.

BTW, you're very good at suspense. Every post I hope to see more information about Clark's background or I hope for his and Lois' relationship to develop. I do, but your ability to draw the story out and tease us with more questions is excellent. notworthy

Can't wait for the next post.
