Clark Kent frowned. He didn’t understand what went wrong. The ingredients were fresh; the kitchen equipment was beyond adequate. And yet he had lost. Worse even, he was in third place.
Not only did his wife, Lois, beat him in the cook off for best main dish AND dessert, but he had also lost to Colonel Samantha Carter from the USAF.
He could easily understand how Lois had won. Being possessed by Katie Banks had definitely improved her cooking. Obviously, she had been holding back.
But, to lose to an Air Force Colonel? Their background checks on the other contestants… Ok, so it was Lois that was checking out the competition, showed that Col. Carter was a geek’s geek. How could she possibly have had the talent to also whip up such a delicious Portabella Mushroom quiche? And her blue raspberry gelatin was delicious, though it garnered her only an honorable mention.
Clark looked past Col. Carter on her medium height platform to Lois. His wife was just beaming. She had won the Top Banana cooking trophy and he was proud of her. She looked at him and he smiled at her. Her London Broil was the best of the three. And her Chocolate Mousse was divine.
He had to console himself with having taken third place with his Sizzling Chicken Caesar Salad and second place for his Peach Cobbler dessert.
