I'm really curious to know if anyone will figure out what is really going on at this point. Want to take a guess at what Dr. Klein's 'hmmm's mean? Or what he's looking for?

I'm assuming, given the setup here, that they are the exact same people.

When they altered the timeline they didn't create a new quantum reality simply altered their own.

As they believed all along. So they need to get Lane and Kent to let them realter reality to get Vickie back.

Hopefully they will end up with BOTH sets of memories.

Poor Doc Klein. And Lane always drifting to Kent even when she knows it's going to hurt. That's just so aww.

Lois and Lane were great and the way Lane wonders on why Kent can't commit and how *Lois* got *Clark* to commit Shouldn't Lane know Lois feelings a little better, considering the dreams?

As for your question. Well, you know my best guess already, so until further evidence turns up...

PS: Since you told me it's okay to just put it into the FDK
Shouldn't Lane be thinking of Lois and Clark instead of Lane and Kent?

There is also a missing he in there somewhere, IIRC but darn if I could find it now

At the risk of divulging my hidden nerdiness, this is beginning to remind me of the episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation where Worf travels through a quantum singularity (or something) and fractures his own reality...except he jumps between the parallel realities. But once the problem is solved, all of the fractured realities merge back into the actual reality, which is what it sounds like is happening to our doubles. Trouble is, which reality would emerge? That's where I'm concerned...

And one can't discount the possibility of other meddlers. After all, Lois knows they're missing something. I really like the juxtaposition of L&C as they should be with L&K, whose lives were thrown off. The differences in character development are fascinating.

How many more hours till you post again?

Poor befuddled Dr. Klein. He is so brillant but he is truly clueless.

Um ... no. Not really. The complex machinations of your evil mind are *way* beyond me. However, I did enjoy this chapter.

Loved the talk between Lois and Lane - I was wondering when Superman would come up. You'd think after all the memories/dreams that they've shared, Lane would have figured this one out herself.

And the image that Kent got of Clark with Vicky was so WaFFy. Thanks

I think they should leave the science to Dr. Klein and work together to figure out who pulled off the Star Labs robbery in the first place. If they do remain in different realities (now that they're split), Kent and Lane will need to clear their good names and give Kent the chance to reclaim the life he lost -- working at the DP, having a public relationship with Lane, getting married and having a child of their own.

Of course, if they're sharing a reality and they have to choose one reality over the other, Lane and Kent may very well decide that the life Lois and Clark lead is worth losing themselves.

Well, I suppose that Lane could be wondering if somewhere along the way Lois might have been raped. After all, Lane and Kent's knowledge of Lois and Clark's past is not quite as well defined at Lois and Clark's knowledge of Lane and Kent's past. I figure that's because they don't know that they should be thinking something happened other than what actually happened. So the memories are a little clouder, I guess. (Hope that makes sense)

That was the thing I enjoyed most about writing this story - thinking about how their relationship and their characters might have developed differently given just one little change to their past.

See my above comments about the fuzziness of Lane and Kent's memories - due to the fact that they weren't thinking that the memories were real. (Or at least, that's my explanation for it. The real reason is that if Lane and Kent had simply known what had happened in Lois and Clark's world, they may well have simply immitated them - instead of following their own path and thereby giving us a story )

If I were to take a guess, the obvious would be that they are the same people and at some point they must merge again. But... ML never takes the obvious path. After all that they've gone through, I would want to see them together, no hiding anymore. I'll wait to see what you have up your sleeve.
