Feedback welcome!
This actually started out to be the first chapter of a sequel to Luck and Consequence. But when it started coming together I felt that it would work well as a stand alone transition piece. I am planning the LaC sequel but I imagine it will be several months before it can be ready.

I loved that! I like your writing a lot already, but seeing the progression you created worked really well! I also liked revisiting your universe, =)
Can't wait for more!

This was great, Bob! I was sort of confused at first, as I somehow missed the part about this being in 1970 and couldn't imagine Lois and Clark naming their daughter Lois, but once I got over it, I loved it. I particularly liked little Lois' disappointment in flying and the idea that she knew it was supposed to feel different. Almost like she was destined to fly under her own power.

I like your explaination for Lois becoming super-powered. Nice progression of her joy of flying gives an interesting glimpse into her background.

I'm glad that you posted the previous fic because it explained so well how Lois got the superpowers and how Lara will have them.
Excellent description of Lois and her joy at really flying.
With regards to flying on an airplane: I'm right there with Lois. It used to be an adventure, now it's tedium and stress. Ah, to have a Kryptonian at one's beck and call!

Thanks everyone for the feedback.
This actually wrote itself backwards. As I said earlier, I started out framing up the first chapter to a Luck and Consequence sequel. This was basically going to be the material that is in the 1999 section. As I was doing that I got to thinking about Lois and flying. It occurred to me that she had a history of flying going all the way back to the Pilot and that it might be fun to include references to these as a retrospective.
The first section with Lois as a small child (sorry for the confusion anonpip) is a direct result of the fact that 5 of the last 6 weeks I have been on business travel and I am incredibly sick of being on airplanes. Little Lois got to reflect some of my one unhappiness with air travel.
I never cared for the fact that in the Ultra Woman episode, they never showed how Lois got to Smallville. They also never showed her learning to control the powers. In my mind there *had* to be a “training session” of some sort. The “getting lost” part of this section was my own musing about what would probably happen if I could fly like that. I have an odd but well developed talent for getting lost. I can easily imagine being in Lois’s spot having lost track of time and direction. I would expect to be lost *a lot* if it were me.

Nicley done. You really captured Lois in all four sections of her life. James PS. Elisabeth wrote a story describing her interpretation of Clark's first solo flight. This Doesn\'t look like Kansas...

I liked it, too. I could so sympathize with little Lois's excitement at the prospect of flying, and then the boredom, mild claustrophobia and general sense of 'not really flying' of it all. I loved the training sessions! Ha! Lois got lost. And Clark had gotten lost so many times, which is precisely why he knew so may lovely tucked-away corners of the Earth! (Bet that's where he and Lois spent their second honeymoon that you told us about in your previous fic, where Lara was conceived!) Keep 'em coming, Bob! Ann

Bob: In my mind there *had* to be a “training session” of some sort. The UltaWoman episode did show training with the heat vision and strength with stopping the runaway truck. But yes, it didn't really deal with flying. So the getting lost part was cute. Yes, flying isn't the fun it used to be. I used to fly from the west coast to the east coast round trip twice a month. I can't imagine doing that now with the tedium of the extra security! Tips for frequent fliers that cannot travel under their own power 1. Know your own airport. 2. Know your frequent airline security measures. 3. Learn about Diamond Lanes! http://www.tsa.gov/press/releases/2008/0318.shtm They are expanding into more airports. Looking forward to a sequel to Luck & Consequence. regards Artemis

James, Ann, Artemis,
That you all for the input.
I wanted to have some fun with the issues of flying for the first time. While I was writing this I watched the Ultra Woman episode to try to make sure I was consistent. The first time we see Lois fly, she looks so in control. I felt like there had to be a flying training session sometime.
As to getting lost, as Elisabeth's wonderful short so clearly illustrates, that's something that any high-speed / long-distance traveler will contend with. I think the ultimate test would be traveling in space at faster-than-light speed. Once you get more than a few light-years from home, you better know where home is and how to navigate or you'll never find your way back.

Bob, this was really sweet and funny. Poor little Lois getting disillusioned about flying and then Superman arrives and slowly giving her back her dream as he becomes first Clark and finally her husband.

Thanks Michael,
Whenever I see Lois flying, it always seems so special. I just felt like there had to be some background there. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

I LOVED this. She had a preconceived notion as to what flying should be and found that the real thing didn't measure up. She tries many things, including sky diving, to attain that feeling. She goes from hating flight to loving flight, in no small part to the attractive nature of the pilot.
I love the scope of how lost Lois is. She doesn't even know what side of the world she's on because she has flown too high too fast. I also love how Clark patiently waits for her, wistfully remembering how wonderful it is to be lost in the world.

Thanks Elisabeth. Part of the inspiration for this came from watching the Pilot again and the look on her face when they flew in the window of the Planet. I got the thinking about what thoughts were on her mind (other than the blue-tights guy) and if she had some history of flying. It just seems that getting lost would be a natural part of super speed flight. So, be sure to learn your star patterns, you too may get super powers and end up lost on the dark side of the world someday! Bob
