Clark has some serious communication issues.

I was delighted with the way you had Maddie confront Clark. Her last line was directly to the heart of the matter.
Sooner or later Clark has to accept that it is his responsibility. He keeps trying to dodge the responsibility claiming instead of the more honest "I don't want to"

If he doesn't step up, then I have the bad feeling that this Clark is going to grow more distant and by tale's end be setting out to see the world.

What a sort of complete train wreck Clark's in denial, Lois is angry and their friends don't know what hit them

You know, I figure Paul could always get a job at the Star, or maybe the Dirt Digger

Ouch, that is rough. But I'm on Lois's side, and I do feel like Clark is just chickening out of telling her. I am glad he realizes that his relationship with Lois was different than with Maddie.

There aren't that many parts left...I'm very curious to see where this goes!

IolantheAlias - Thanks. No need to be profound. I'm pretty much always tired right now - my daughter is going through a spell where she refuses to sleep much at night - so I don't understand profound anyway.

Patrick - Thanks. I have to admit to having a huge soft spot for Maddie. I think it's hard to write without having some of yourself in some of the characters. Maddie comes as close to being me (or at least the me I wish I had been back when I was in college) as anyone I've ever written. I wasn't always good about confronting my close friends when I saw them making mistakes, but I did try and I thought right about then, Clark needed a friend like that.

Michael - I have to admit, I have only a vague notion of where Paul will end up. All I really knew was that his career as a journalist isn't over yet.

Amber - Thanks! I'm on Lois' side, too, although I do feel badly for Clark.

Sorry. The plan is to get another one up tonight. Been trying to get my daughter to sleep for the past several hours though. She's been refusing all week. Will be working on it now, but am intermittently still working on the sleep thing, too. She has finally beaten me into using the cry it out method. I've been against it and commited to doing a no cry method, but she is incredibly stubborn. We've been "sleep training" for several weeks now with no results that way.
