The Black Speck kind of has a nice ring to it, doesn't it? Hah.

Yes, "Black Speck" sounds almost ridiculously funny!

But this was a good quote:

Quote
I didn’t like my actions being painted as knightly, though I did feel the appellation of “Black Knight” was appropriate in some ways. A black knight historically was a knight who wasn’t bound to a certain lord or who did not want his real identity known. But while I certainly did not want to be identified, I would have preferred never to have been noticed at all.
I'm thinking of Bruce Wayne, the "Dark Knight". Hmmm, I hadn't thought of him as a knight who wasn't bound to a certain lord, or who didn't want his identity to be known. But now I see that it fits. And if Bruce Wayne can be the "Dark Knight", then surely Clark Kent can be the "Black Knight". Except he isn't meant to be. He is meant to be the colorfully dressed superhero confidently showing his face to the world. You've got to tell us what happened in Africa, Deja Vu! But something tells me that we will not know about it until Lois does.

But hey, Clark as "The Black Speck"! That's just too funny!

Now, I couldn’t count how many times I had used it. It would probably just depress me if I tried.
On the plus side when he does encounter folks like Trask with Kryptonite he will be far more able to cope with it than canon Clark.

After returning from Africa, I had spent countless hours up in my childhood treehouse—the Fortress of Solitude—before my parents had even known I was home.
Again and again listening to your Clark's internal monologues and his interaction with his parents I keep returning to the following scripture.

Quote
Proverbs 18:1 New World Translation
One isolating himself will seek [his own] selfish longing; against all practical wisdom he will break forth.
Quote
Proverbs 18:1 New Jerusalem Bible
Whoever lives alone follows private whims, and is angered by advice of any kind.
Looking forward to more.

Ah, a tantalizing glimpse into Clark's life in Africa...but just enough to bring up more questions!

It's interesting - Clark tells himself that he's alone and will always be that way, but he keeps placing himself in situations that ensure he won't be alone.

And there's nothing as dependable as the Lane penchant for trouble to force his hand.

I'm a big fan of the everyday posting! smile

Black Knight, huh? Interesting reasoning Clark put behind it. Does this mean the clone Superman will be called a White Knight? After all, he's in the service of a powerful lord.

“No,” I murmured, taken aback by the unexpected physical contact. “I just thought you worked alone.” I had to keep myself from bringing up a hand to cover the spot where she had just touched me. It was strange how the sensation seemed to linger.
laugh

Africa really starts to be intriguing...

She lifted an eyebrow. “Is there a reason you painted it white?”
"Not really. They just didn't have any other colors for lead-based paint, so..."

The posting schedule is great! thumbsup

I must confess, I did think of Batman more than once while writing, heh.

It kind of makes me surprised why "Dark Knight" was used rather than "Black Knight" heh.

Heh heh. This is true...

Heh. "A little bit here and a little bit there" is generally what I went by while writing. But there is quite a large bit in the next chapter...

Hahahahahah. I love that picture. "See this? This is Clark." Heh heh.

Haha. This is true. "Kryptonite? Pshh. That old stuff?"

That bit of scripture does indeed seem rather fitting. But I don't know that I would say he's completely selfish...

Heh. That is a bit of a problem, isn't it?

Heh. I just realized you're from South Africa. laugh I did try to do a little research, but I was so hesitant to choose a university just because I wanted certain requirements...and I didn't want to choose a place I thought fit the requirements only to learn it didn't. But if you'd like, maybe when we get deeper into the story and my requirements become clearer, then perhaps you could help me with the choosing of a place? Only if you want, of course...

Hahaha. Thinking about that, I suddenly feel like I'm playing chess with LnC characters...
