Well, let's see... An expression of incredulity on his face, Clark sat in his chair and leaned back. “Hey, Ralph, I’m out getting information. You ought to try it sometime. It’s called newsgathering and investigating. Lois and I get the best stories because we do the leg work.” ‘Not only that,’ he thought to himself, ‘I’m working three jobs. You ought to try *that* before you criticize.’
Undeterred by Clark’s demeanor, Ralph continued, “No, it’s because you and Lois are Perry’s tame pets.” Now, that's just plain funny I mean, sure, you needed a way to make Clark forget, but still, nuking him? Isn't that a bit harsh? Couldn't you have just sent him crystals? Liking the twists. But doesn't change the fact that part 12 isn't posted yet. Michael

My favourite part , especially since I would have said pretty much what Clark said to Ralph: Somehow at that moment, it all became too much for Clark. He was usually pretty unflappable around Mr. Clueless, but not today and not at this moment. Without thinking, he burst out in a dangerously calm voice, “Ralph, I swear if the world ended tomorrow, I might not save you.” Great part but what is going to happen next? Is Clark still alive? Can we get part 12 soon?

Thanks for the comments Michael and DW. Yeah, I enjoyed writing the Ralph bit. Glad you caught the GPS bit, Michael. Maybe it is not, er was not, only a GPS unit. Maybe there was a part of it that was a homing signal for the missile, eh? After all, it's hard to hit a moving rock in space. I think the odds are Clark is alive, but expect angst to come. Yeah, 12 is in the works, but I've got some RL to do. regards Artemis

Wow! Talk about an ultimate cliffhanger - Clark engulfed in nuclear fury!
And thanks for including all the technical bits - they really add verisimilitude.
(Later) Just thinking - will Clark be radioactive after this?

Hi Iolanthe: Remember "Man of Steel Bars"? Superman went into a nuclear reactor then and tore it apart to stop it. In another episode, "Super Mann", he became radioactive and went flying toward the sun and it baked it out of him. So I guess neutralizing radioactivity is one of his powers! Maybe it has something to do with his high molecular density. So that's what I'm going by. Thanks for your comments Artemis

I finally got a chance to read this chapter and I really enjoyed it--I hope RL does not delay part 12 for too long.

Thanks for the encouragement. Part 12 is started. Maybe by this weekend. We're in New York where it is 100 deg F and not fun outside. Artemis
