Oh that scene that started in the rain was... perfect!!

Quote
There was showing and then there was showing. Show me you love me, Clark, she thought. Show me and I'll show you. If only he wasn't taking so damn long - was he actually hesitating?
Interesting juxtaposition of thoughts here... we all know what Lois wants wink (incl a confession of love would be nice, right Lois?) yet Clark *is* trying to show her... that he's Superman. But yet again doesn't get that far... I kept waiting for Lois to unbutton his shirt and see the suit. Excellent scene! Loved it!!

Quote
Then she clambered from beneath the boxcar a second time and stood up.

Which way to go?
Woo hoo! She's free! go to Clark, of course!

Quote
I've always loved Action!Lois best. [Smile]
Yeah, she's a lot of fun to watch. smile

Great part! Can't wait for more!! smile1

Reach for the moon, for even if you fail, you'll still land among the stars... and who knows? Maybe you'll meet Superman along the way. wink

I second MMs comment that the scene that started in the rain is perfect.

And way to go, Lois -- Who needs Superman? (Well, OK, Lois does -- just not for being rescued. wink )

Caught up on parts 4 & 5 today. Still enjoying it very much. smile

Really liked how Lois got herself free. It wasn't quick and easy; it required time and thought and persistence, which is even more impressive. Hopefully she's not so far out of town -- any town, since she could be hours outside Metropolis -- that she won't be able to get there in one piece.

Also really liked the flashback scene, both how it begins in the rain and ends on the couch. I greatly sympathized with Lois when he bolted -- forget Jimmy-interuptus; Superman-interuptus was the name of the game during this part of the show! -- but everything that led up to that point was done very nicely. Sweet and sexy, but in a well-paced, romantic way. Nice. smile

And finally, back to part 4 ... Clark is clearly missing the big picture if he thinks that trading his secret for Lois's return is all his idea. In fact, I think the person looking for information could be way ahead of him. It's very likely someone called the hotline and said "Superman's weakness is Lois Lane" and the plan was hatched. It could be a very interesting conversation if he goes there to offer information on himself ... only to be beaten to the punch by getting a blackmail offer first, LOL.

The listening pose-flee maneuver now has an official name = "to pull a Clark!" Love it!

It's disappointing that your muse is being such a, um, witch.
/Muse steps in/ Hey! I’m not the witch. *He* locked me up in a contai- /pulls Muse back off the stage/ Erm, sorry about that. She’s a bit… confused these days. Don’t mind her.
Quote
If you truly can write an nfic tangent for this part, DO IT!
/Takes slip of paper from Muse/ Hmm... yes... uh-huh... /Files idea away for later use/ You know, It certainly would be interesting how Lois would react if Clark was already crossing the threshold but then his guilt becomes dominant and he… um… develops sudden a drop in regards to his… capabilities to make her... happy. Plus, he takes off. Yes... Um... And of course drool

He seemed to consider that for a moment and then he said, "Ah, but only a first-rate stalker would know that you start out sleeping on the left side of the bed, but by morning you're hogging the whole thing."

Was he really nervous? Or did he think she was? He needn't worry about that, she had never felt this blindly eager to continue before. All he had to do was say 'I love you' and then he'd see some real action.
Oh boy. What’s going to stop them invalidating the Ancient Curse by pre-marital consummation?

Quote
Instead of speaking, though, he tensed again.

"Wait." Clark shifted her off his lap and onto the cushion next to him. "Maybe we're going too fast?"

"Maybe we're not going fast enough?" she teased, starting to feel a twinge of anxiety that he was actually going to pull a Clark and leave.
Apparently, Superman. And LOL to the ‘pulling a Clark’ clap
Quote
Giddy with joy, she shimmied through the hole in the floor and crawled from beneath the boxcar. Her eyes squinted, trying to adjust to the brilliant sunshine.
jawdrop It’s… it’s… it’s… just part 5 confused What’s she going to do now to get into trouble?
Quote
Hopefully that would happen before her kidnapper returned and found her missing.
Arrrgh! cat More! Please? Pretty please? grovel

Ahhh, turkey is cooked & eaten, family has come and gone... now its time to read fic!

Hmm, Lois has lost both of her shoes. For some reason I thought that Clark had only found one... does this mean that Superman will be getting "the other shoe" as part of a ransom note? (or maybe I just need to go back and read more carefully the parts that don't involve making out smile )

Quote
And, while she would deny it if anyone was bold enough to bring up the subject, she wanted to get married and have a family. She wanted to kiss Clark again. She wanted to do a lot of things with Clark, actually. She wanted to spend a weekend in Smallville with him. She wanted another walk in the rain with him…
Love her more secret life objectives. At first glance I thought, what walk in the rain?... then I realized the next bit was a flashback & what a delicious one it was. Such a great mix of sweet & sexy. I find Lois's inner monologue throughout to be so endearing.

Quote
"Do what?" Clark's body started a slow, seductive sway against hers.
*thud* So very hot.

Quote
"You make it really difficult for me to think straight sometimes."
I love Smut haze!Clark trying to summon the clarity for the big revelation.

Ok, Clark is lucky that Lois is not firing with all cylinders either b/c that should send off massive warning bells!

And after all that exquisite foreplay, he's outta there. Argh! Superman Interruptus indeed! *hugs* Lois.

Woohoo! She escaped. Hang in there Lois! and please get to Clark before he does anything too rash.

Can't wait for the next chapter.

Yeah! I am *finally* back home with access to a computer! I saw and read this chapter on my cell phone, several times, actually, over the weekend. And, believe it or not, I wrote you feedback using said phone. Which, let me tell you, is no mean feat. Each letter on my phone is on a 0.1 square milimeter key, about 1/100 the total area of the tip of my smallest finger. Hitting any letter is as likely to type any of the 6 letters surrounding that key as it is to type the letter you want. You really have to use a magnifying glass and a toothpick if you want to type anything other than garbage. goofy

I, too, was laughing at Clark's decision to "show" Lois his secret, and her interpretation of his actions.

So, when do we get 6/10? More, please. hyper

Edited to add: I just wanted to second Emily's *thud* on Clark's seductive sway. smile

I don't know why I started in the middle of this fic but I did and then ended up going back and reading it all. I'm completely hooked. Loved this last part. The scene in the rain, Clark distractedly trying to tell Lois about being Superman while she thinks he's trying to tell her he loves her. I reread this part quite a few times. I just love it. Love that Lois got away on her own and can't wait to see what happens next.

Everyone else has already written great feedback. I'll just second all of theirs, and add that the prolonged "foreplay to revealing the secret" was downright agonizing. For all concerned.

Well, you've already heard from me on this part, but I did want to add my comments here as well.

Sweet surrender in the rain = drool
Lois undressing Clark and Clark showing Lois = dance

Move over, MacGyver. Tenacity and ingenuity, thy name is Lois Lane.

Can't wait to see the next part posted.

Loved the rain scene and subsequent couch scene and Clark wanting to show Lois drool

I also loved Lois in action, trying to break out without any real tools at her disposal, but that scene just shows how resourceful she can really be!

Sue! It's part 5 and it's my first FDK, but I'm loving this story. Well, that is no news, I've always loved everything you've written and this is no exception. help

I'm so sorry I haven't replied sooner. blush RL got hectic after the holiday last week and I wanted to be able to reply at length to all the lovely, lovely FDK.

First, to answer the general question/pondering about Lois' footwear (or lack of it). She lost one shoe outside the bar: The toes of her shoes bounced across the sidewalk as she fought the black vortex that seemed to be sucking her under. A ripple of pain shot up her leg as one shoe came off and her foot smacked erratically against the concrete. Later in part 1 she wakes up in the dark and she's missing both shoes: Her entire body felt cold, especially her feet. She wiggled her toes and wondered where her shoes had gone. I don't have her remembering losing the first shoe because she was pretty out-of-it when it happened. The last thing she can remember clearly is flirting with Clark before he excused himself to "visit the restroom". Since the story is called "The Other Shoe", I have to think that other one is going to pop up sooner or later. wink

Now, for particulars. laugh

mozartmaid - Thank you! I'm so pleased you liked the rain scene so much. Yes, we all know what she wanted, but since this is on the PG side of the boards, it was pretty doubtful they were going to get that far. wink

Lynn - I definitely think Lois doesn't always need Superman to rescue her. After all, she did manage to survive for over twenty years without his help. :p

Kathy - Yay! It's wonderful to see you again! I was worried I had lost you. thumbsup

Emily - Awww - thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed the couch scene. You're absolutely right that Lois was just as distracted as Clark. She even acknowledged that she wasn't sure which one of them was thinking the least clearly. wink (Emily, I owe you a long email - don't think I've forgotten you!)

Vicki - I thank you for your heroic efforts at feedback! I also appreciate that you persevered and tried again in a much more conducive format.
Quote
Now, where is she and how can she reach Clark/Superman? I get the idea she won't be reaching Superman any time soon, though.
We're only halfway through the story so she probably won't be finding Superman anytime soon. As for Clark's non-planned plan and its result, that's in the next part.

Jackie - It's so good to see you again! <hugs> I laughed that you started in the middle and I'm very pleased to hear that it made you want to read the first four parts.

Iothan - I was worried I had lost you, so it's very reassuring to see you again! You're right about the prolonged foreplay, but sometimes it does heighten the tension to just the right level. wink

BJ - The fact that you'll still read the rain scene makes me want to weep with happiness. I've inflicted that part on you so, so, so many times over the past few months. Thank you for being so generous and enthusiastic! I'm still futzing with 7 and 8, but I'm hoping to have something to send you by the end of the day.

DW - Thank you! I'm glad you liked it!

Andreia - Hi! wave Thanks for joining in - I'm so happy to see you again! Thank you for all the fun and funny comments. Clark's lap is a better choice over her uncomfortable sofa. What he's trying to tell her is definitely not what she's thinking. I loved the mental image of them generating enough heat to dry their clothes. But, most of all, I loved that I'm going to have to add "shoeless and smutless with a popcorn-only diet" to the list of ways I've tortured Lois.

I'm still tweaking one little piece of part 6 and then I'll post. Many, many thanks to everyone who's sticking this out with me. I appreciate (and live for) your comments. sloppy

Lois: You know, I have a funny feeling that you didn't tell me your biggest secret.

Clark: Well, just to put your little mind at ease, Lois, you're right.

blush No, just almost one year. blush blush If you count from the viggy that actually got finished. After all, if I can't finish even one contribution for each year's Kerth eligible stories... Well... I don't want to see them canceled one day because of too few eligible stories. Anyway, 10 months is still *way* too long. And it's going to be a few more months. Is it really almost Christmas again? clap

Michael, who is already very anxious about part 6.

Hi Sue, I am just catching up with this story now. Real life has been in the way with the holidays and the end of the semester stuff. I am sorry I haven't commented sooner. I really love the banter between Lois and Clark here and I love that she is getting away. I will read more as soon as I can. Great job. Laura
