I know this story is kind of futile, because they make up in that episode anyway, but the idea of this story came to me last night, when I was lying in bed, and trying to fall asleep, and was developed during wrestling practice today after school (I don't wrestle, just manage the team). I had to write it up. Thanks to Maria, for giving me the link to the "Just Say Noah" script, so that I could finalize some details in this mini-vignette. Enjoy! smile

LOIS AND CLARK'S CABIN AT THE SMILEY INSTITURE CAMP GROUND - 11 PM

Clark shifted, throwing a few pillows on the floor. "This is not a bed!" He threw in frustration.

"No, this is," Lois replied softly from the bed.

"A kind of a large bed, actually," he added.

"And this is business," she quietly said.

Clark sighed. "Okay, fine. You think I can't handle this? I can handle this," and with that he floated up in the air, pretending there was an actual bed to lie on and stretched on the imaginary bunk.

Lois rolled her eyes. "Your life is so strange."

He watched her roll on her side, her back turned to him, and waited till she fell asleep to float down to the bed.

LOIS AND CLARK'S CABIN AT THE SMILEY INSTITURE CAMP GROUND - 1 AM

Clark watched the sleeping Lois beside him. How much he wanted to touch her, to cradle her and sleep with her in his arms. He'd been a fool, and now he was paying for it.

She shifted a bit, maybe half awake, maybe half in a dream.

He was tempted to wake her up, and make her forgive him - but he knew he couldn't do that.

He lifted his hand to gently caress her hair.

She woke up from her half-daze status, realizing Clark was no longer sleep floating about. "Clark..." he heard her whisper, as if through choked tears. But the tears hadn't come yet. They were gathering in her eyes as she tried to choke the whimper climbing up her throat. "Stop."

He didn't. Continuing to caress her hair gently, he shifted a bit closer.

"Stop..." she begged as she closed her eyes again, willing him to go away so that she could gather herself.

"Lois, why? Why should I stop if I love you and I know that you love me?"
He leaned in and put his arm on her waist, continuing to caress her hair with his other hand.

"Because... oh, my God, Clark-- you don't know what you do to me," she turned so that she was facing him, only a few inches between them. "You broke up with me when I needed you to take care of me, Clark! You, Superman, couldn't find better timing. You save my life when it's in danger, and you say you love me, but I'm not something you play with,” she stopped to gasp for air that she needed. “You proposed to me, and you went and broke up with me. Yeah, I know... for my own safety..." she sniffed as she tried to stop the tears streaming down her face. "Clark, I'm just so completely in love with you!"

Clark wiped her tears with his thumb. "I know, Lois, and I love you too," he whispered tenderly. “Don't cry. Please. It's okay- look- we'll be okay." He took her into his arms and pressed her to him, kissing the top of her head.

"I'm so sorry...” She sobbed into his chest.

"Shh, Lois, its okay, don't cry..." he soothed.

"God, Clark, I was such a fool--"

"Shh. Stop." With that he lowered his mouth to hers and captured her lips in a tender kiss, caressing her with his arm. She put one arm around his waist and the other around his neck to pull him closer to her, as they were slowly losing themselves in their passion.

They would not part anymore.

Lois has never slept in a better bed.
