Wow, I wasn't expecting this at all! Clark's torn, and that is so clearly apparent. I feel very bad for Lois; I can't imagine how hard this is for her, particularly when we know from the show how difficult it was to see Clark with Mayson even when we could all tell he had no real interest in her.

This seems very suspicious to me, though. Clark is obviously stressed out, so the question is: why is he dating Mayson at all? She seems incredibly happy, but just as incredibly needy and clingy. She also seems to want to rub it in to all around that Clark is hers (probably because she knows, as does the rest of Metropolis, that Clark is in love with Lois). I think something more is going on here than we can see.

HG Wells appearance is a pretty big clue in that regard. Either the future Utopia abruptly disappeared because Clark is now with Mayson instead of Lois, or something more sinister is indeed happening.

I will point out that the text is repeated, as if it was copied into the text box twice. It happens right when Lois begins to talk to Wells, so I admit that I actually thought for a minute that he had reversed time back a couple minutes, but when nothing changed, I assume it was just an accident.

Very much looking forward to seeing what Wells has to say to Lois!

Yes, accident was a little confusing for a minute, but it was easy enough to figure out. Just pasted twice. No biggie.

Great chapter! I'm wondering what HG Wells is doing here still. Patch things up between Lois and Clark? Or has something else gone wrong?

Quote
"What's going on, Clark? Are you afraid that Mayson is going to be jealous? It's just a job, you know? I will not try to seduce you!" I sneered angrily.

I hated that Mayson was his girlfriend. I hated his reserved attitude towards me and most of all I hated that my heart beat faster as soon as I saw him.

Accident fixed. blush

Thanks a lot for your feedback. I'm glad you like this part, despite Mayson.

I think I'll be coming back with the next part sooner this time..

Interesting setup here. I can't stand Mayson but it doesn't really look like he's in love with her. So something else is going on and I'm wondering what it is.

I hope Lois and Clark do that story together.
