Aw. This was nice and waffy. I'm really not that high a maintenance girl. At least, not food-wise Isn't that the truth? That made me laugh. Gotta love this: "You...would choose me? Over him?" Fun story! Joan

Joan Thanks Joan! I figured, if Lois ate food from a place called Ralph's Pagoda in canon, then how high maintenance can she really be when it comes to food? Glad you enjoyed it. I wanted to start everyone's year with something light and waffy.

That was so sweet! I did enjoy the non-angsty revelation. And... Owning Boardwalk and Park Place has done nothing for me. Clark seems quite adept at rolling the dice just enough to allow him to squeak by. Is Clark using his superpowers to make the dice rolls come out to his advantage?

I've often thought that if Lois and Clark had become a couple sooner, and the reveal had come sooner, that a ton of angst could have been sidestepped. And nope, Clark is not using his powers. Superman doesn't cheat. Besides, that would mean that I have powers too. I kept skipping over my husband's high value properties last time we played! I love when I can hide little personal factoids in stories.

What a wonderful story! So sweet and romantic. Go B-plot! Go B-plot! Also, Lois is not with Lex for the purposes of this story because Lois and Lex is just icky. Confidence begins to sprout in my mind while my heart starts to thump faster and harder at Clark's light touch. Thank God he can't hear what effect he is having on me. I think I'd die of embarrassment if he could. only because we know he can! With a flashlight, he peruses the wines that he has stored on the wall rack and chooses a bottle of red after what appears to be some internal debate. He doesn't want her to know he can chose wine without a wine stewart like Lex? His face brightens across the table from me, and his smile seems to light up the entire apartment. I love the lines like this one you have sprinkled throughout the story. So sweet! I nod. "When Perry decided to make you my partner, I thought it might be best if I checked out some of your work. Just to see what kind of a writer you were." This makes total sense in a Duh! sort of way. But didn't he write many of those articles in other languages? I feel like there has to be more to his story, but it seems clear that whatever it might be, it hurts him too much to think about. And that makes me angry. Clark is one of the sweetest, gentlest, most giving people that I have ever met. How could anyone or anything cause him pain? I love how she's championing him here like she usually does with Superman. I soften my tone. "Please?"
Clark looks slightly panicked. Bet he wasn't expecting her to beg him to share the bed! Paul used to reek of cigarettes and cheap cologne. And I'm pretty sure that Claude used to marinate himself in cheap liquor and only shower every few days. But Clark...Clark smells like...rose scented soap and wind and safety and home. I like how she keeps comparing him to the other men in her life and everyone else comes up lacking. Plus, only Clark would smell of "wind". I love that image. (if scent could be an image that is... perhaps the correct term would be phrase. Yes, phrase!) Soon enough, I feel his breaths even out and grow deeper, and I know that he has fallen asleep. As for me, I remain awake a little while longer, not because I want to, but because my brain is racing at a thousand miles an hour. I'm a little surprised that Clark's more comfortable in this position than Lois! Being that he's the one who floats in his sleep. Maybe he's just better at faking it. "Clark," I say, taking comfort from having his arms around me, "about last night..."
I can almost hear the color draining from his face. "I'm so sorry, Lois. I knew that I should have stayed on the couch." Um... she backed into him. What is he ashamed about? And that's because he's not real. He's a disguise. My disguise. I am Superman I was beginning to wonder if this just going to be a great couple of days together when you go and do a reveal!

What a wonderful story! So sweet and romantic. Go B-plot! Go B-plot! Thank you! I thought you COULD still make calls during a power outage with landlines. (I always could.) Of course, Clark has a cordless phone, which wouldn't work without power. True. I actually forgot about that. But yeah, Clark's phone is cordless, so no dice there if Lois had called. The former Girl Scout is always prepared! Ya think? Much better company than you have at home? Fish are not good company? Okay, now you've gone and made Clark perfect. <<wags finger>> I'm lucky if I can get my KIDS to play a game with me, let alone my husband! (And I'm not even cut throat like Lois). Oh, right, your story. Sorry...
Although I have to admit I was thinking Clark was putting an extra twist on his Monopoly rolls to get them past her Boardwalk. Maybe subconsciously just a teach her how to lose? A little bit? only because we know he can!

I know. I amused myself greatly with that one. He doesn't want her to know he can chose wine without a wine stewart like Lex? Clark (to self): "Which wine says, you're my best friend but I love you without looking obvious?" I love the lines like this one you have sprinkled throughout the story. So sweet! Thank you very much! This makes total sense in a Duh! sort of way. But didn't he write many of those articles in other languages? True, but I'm guessing there had to be a translation of it somewhere. Perry was able to read the Gecko article. And the internet always has translators. Although, did that exsist in 1994? I didn't have the internet back then. Even if not, Lois probably has a ton of sources that could get her English versions. I love how she's championing him here like she usually does with Superman. Thanks. That was my goal. To make her champion Clark like she would with Superman, not knowing that they are one and the same. Bet he wasn't expecting her to beg him to share the bed! Never crossed his mind in his wildest dreams. I like how she keeps comparing him to the other men in her life and everyone else comes up lacking. Plus, only Clark would smell of "wind". I love that image. (if scent could be an image that is... perhaps the correct term would be phrase. Yes, phrase!) Thanks again! I had fun with the comparisons. And I really wanted the wind image/phrase. I like when Lois makes these sort of subconcious connections between Clark and Superman without realizing that she's doing it. I'm a little surprised that Clark's more comfortable in this position than Lois! Being that he's the one who floats in his sleep. Maybe he's just better at faking it. Or just really exhausted from Supermaning around town all night. Um... she backed into him. What is he ashamed about? Nothing. But he's also the type of man to apologize for the sun if Lois gets a sunburn. I was beginning to wonder if this just going to be a great couple of days together when you go and do a reveal! I was totally not expecting that. I was a bit surprised that Lois didn't notice that Clark never explained WHY he left all those countries that he lived. I was sure she would pick up on that pattern. She's a little dense? Glad I was able to give you a surprise! NO! Why would I want the two most wonderful men in my life swirled together in one terrific man? Who adores me? Absolutely not! How dare he suggest such a thing! Great ending! Thank you for setting the bar so high for all waffy stories to come in 2012! Thank you so much! Wow, I wasn't expecting a comment like that! Also, is it bad that when I see the guy, I hear the Ewok "ooooh-ooooh" worship chant in my head? Is this a sign that I need to stop watching Star Wars marathons on the tv?

What a cute, waffy snow story! And a revelation to boot! What more could a winter-bound Lois want than to spend it with her hunky partner, her best friend, her kissing partner, and that old favorite, Superman (the girl's best fantasy). Too bad the snow storm only lasted a few days! I can imagine all kinds of trouble to get into if it lasted weeks.
Well, I enjoyed this story, so after writing this feedback, I'm going over to the nfic to see what surprises you left there.

This is one of the sweetest most tender Lois and Clark stories I have ever read! A revelation without Lois blowing a gasket...how refreshing is that? Since it is a bone chilling 21 degrees and I'm sitting in front of a roaring fire right now this story is very on point.

A writer's job is to think of new plots and create characters who stay with you long after the final page has been read. If that mission is accomplished than we have done what we set out to do, which is to entertain and hopefully educate.

Wow, amazing story! I was looking forward to reading this one, and it did not disappoint in the least! Amazing imagery, evoking cold while I read it and making me as lonely as Lois in her apartment and then as happy as she was to be with Clark. I love how well they two get along, and you captured that perfectly here. I love the soft, slow way you drew out her burgeoning feelings, and it was amazing the way you described Clark's reaction to hearing Lois say she would choose him over Superman. That was all he needed to know! Amazing job! Thanks for sharing!

Amazing job! Thanks for sharing! Thanks so much AntiK! I'm glad that this one didn't disappoint you at all. It would have been unforgivable if I'd disappointed the person who gave me the inspiration to write this one! Glad to see you on the boards!

Aaaaaaaaawwwww!!! This was adorable! I loved it! So sweet- I loved that they played board games together- and you hit the nail on the head with which ones they would win. Clark is responsible with the money and Lois is a strong enough ruler to put a leash on Superman... so yeah, supreme ruler works. Is this a sign that I need to stop watching Star Wars marathons on the tv?

Is this a sign that I need to stop watching Star Wars marathons on the tv? I wouldn't say that I am a fanatic per se...but I do love me some Star Wars! Thanks for the kind words! Glad you enjoyed it. Although, I forgot (until I was perusing the episode scripts online) that Clark lost Metropoly in HiM. He couldn't make his rent and lost to Lois. :p But yeah, I could totally see Clark winning Monopoly and losing horrendously at Risk. (He's kind of like me in that respect - Risk is just not my game - I own the LOTR edition - geeky enough?).

I own two different versions of Star Wars monopoly (trilogy edition and saga), SW Life and SW Stratego, so I think I've got you beat on the geek thing... and I think I've just over-proved the fact that I'm a fanatic. But I suck at both Monopoly and Risk. I'm more of a Clue gal myself. Or cards.
