ML, Well, first of all, I had to stop laughing long enough to finish the story and make a comments folder. The fic is great, btw. Perfectly waffy! Btw, are you sure you don’t want to add that Clark was wearing a bath towel, fresh from the shower?? I have to agree with Carol here. A scene with Clark in a towel would have been a nice addition. In any case, a great story and the way you did this as a tribute to Carol and Gerry with their comments worked in was just great! And lucky thing that we have BR's, isn't it? Thanks for sharing this priceless fic, ML. And to Gerry and Carol, very enjoyable comments! Jana (who is going to bed before she gets any sillier. This test tomorrow should be interseting...)

ML, what a delight to come to the boards and find a story from you! And this was absolutely wonderful, a terrific way to pay tribute to BRs. I must admit, I really like the way that both Gerry and Carol think, particularly their thoughts on Clark and the towel... I'm really sorry you couldn't use the idea - maybe your next story ::looking hopeful:: But towel or no towel, you had some lovely moments between L&C, especially that "soul-shattering" kiss... What fun... Kathy

great story, ML. nice progression, fun mistakes, and a very nice way to show what BRs can do for you. love the BR comments, too.
i just have one question, tho... why don't we ever get to see lois in a towel?
Paul
When in doubt, think about penguins. It probably won't help, but at least it'll be fun.

Very cute, ML! Wonderful to see the symbiosis between author and betas. But I do feel sorry for the poor neglected towel. Hazel

This was wonderful, ML, and a great tribute to your BR's, who, by the way, have great taste in Clark's attire. Hope we see more soon from you!! Missy

Oh, this was an absolute gem! LOL, I'm cheering and clapping here in my seat. Very fun. I think my favorite part was when Gerry and Carol each complained about the first draft of the resignation letter -- and Carol's "assumption" that it was part of a budding a-plot. ROTFL! This was just great. Happy Beta Readers' Day! Kathy (who thinks the towel will make an appearance later ... after all, they're in a dusty attic. What better way to clean up but with a nice hot shower together. )

LOL. That's great! I love the comments that Carol and Gerry make, especially about the towel! The whole story had me laughing.

ROFL!! (Loved the 'where's your spell checker? Use it!' line from Gerry, by the way! ). Oh, and just where did that towel go? Hmm... Maybe this would do instead: Or this? Wendy (always glad to be of service to towel-clad-Clark-deprived FoLCs )

Thanks for the pictures, Wendy; they really hit the spot. And I have to give Carol complete credit for the towel. She's the one who wants to see Clark in towel. But ML is also a fantastic beta-reader. Although she misses my comma and spell..I mean typo errors, she manages to get me back on track with my stories. Her sense of pacing and story are bang on. And she's extremely generous with her help. So thank you, ML for being a great BR and a great person. gerry

Thanks for all your generous comments. But in my opinion, what really made the story work was Gerry and Carol's comments. I wanted it to be gramatically correct and yet be as bad a letter as I could possibly write. Of course, I then asked, under the letter, if either of them wanted to comment. As you can see, they both did. I chose Carol and Gerry for this story precisely because I knew how they would react to particular passages. However, in writing the story, it was hoped that all my Beta readers, past and present, would know how much I appreciate them. All the mistakes in this story were deliberately put there. However, there is not one which I haven't made and without my Beta readers, you would all have to read my mistakes, too. So thank you, Beta readers ML P.S. - Paul, I'm sorry you don't get to see Lois in a towel more often. But I suspect you are hanging out in the wrong crowd to see that happen much

This was such fun. All I can say is that it has been a great pleasure to be one of ML's betas. And she's been so stoic, putting up with her betas' nags. about the towel - I've always heard that clothes make the man. Lovely pictures, Wendy. Carol

Fabulous! This story was so clever and cute. Loved the way you showed the story before and after Beta-ing. I'm not currently a beta reader, but after reading this story, I'm almost thinking it would be fun! Thanks for giving me a great big grin to carry though the day Lynn
