This was a sticky issue that I ran into when I first started writing it. In Madame Ex, we're told that Lex Luthor had the ring [or at least, his lawyers did] but since I've made it so Lois didn't actually refuse him at the altar, she's fully within her rights to keep it. An engagement ring is given like a promise - if you break that promise, you give the ring back. However, if you don't break it, but through one thing or another don't get to marry your fiancé/e, then you're allowed keep it... as far as I know, this is true for American law as well as Irish law, but I could be wrong... the issue will crop up later, so I hope by that time it'll make sense
