Wahoo! My girls have finally gotten a little better about sleeping for a few hours at a stretch at night, so I've been able to write. Don't get too excited though - I'm unfortunately not back to writing fulltime and have no idea when I'll be able to work on any of the other 8,000 ideas I have bouncing around in my head.

Family means safety and security. It stands for love without restrictions or limits. It's a sense of being home, no matter where I am or what I'm doing. It's acceptance and support and belonging, a sense of worth I'd never before felt in my life. It is comfort and peace. Yay! Deadly Chakram is back! This so funny! I was in the mood to read something cool so I started reading Contractually Bound. So imagine my surprise when I opened the msbs this morning and discovered this gem. I have read just about everything you have ever written and this story had me in happy tears... OK, so you wouldn't be writing any long stories like the above mentioned, but its great to see your name on the boards again.

A writer's job is to think of new plots and create characters who stay with you long after the final page has been read. If that mission is accomplished than we have done what we set out to do, which is to entertain and hopefully educate.

"Oh, you can’t help that," said the Cat: "we’re all mad here. I’m mad. You’re mad." "How do you know I’m mad?" said Alice. "You must be," said the Cat, "or you wouldn’t have come here.”

I loved the short story. Concise and thorough exploration of a single topic.
Don't worry about length as long as you are writing gems like this.

Mike Thank you, Mike! Short or long, I enjoy writing them all. I have a nice mix of story lengths floating around here - everything from short ones like this to novel length ones.

What a sweet retrospective. You highlighted many of the reason we all fell in love with Clark. Funny, I thought most babies were born with blue eyes. But already, his eyes are unmistakably Clark's. My daughter's were black, pupil and iris the same color. And, yes, we mothers note at first glance the good traits our children have inherited from each of us. Clark's eyes would definitely be the first thing Lois noticed. Hands fisted in defiance as he cried Oh, look. He's also Lois's child. Always a terrific milestone. My daughter slept through the night at 6 months, my son not so much. Then again, my daughter stopped napping at 2.5 y.o. and my son at 4 y.o. Now, if I could only get them to go to bed at night. /My fault, being a night owl myself/. May you not be blessed with one early bird and one night owl, or you may never sleep again. Good luck!

A beautiful study of Lois' (and Clark's) feelings about getting to experience something they never thought they would. I like how you explored the connections running from the beginning of their relationship to this point, and into the future.

What a sweet retrospective. You highlighted many of the reason we all fell in love with Clark. Hi, Virginia! Thanks for the kind words. Glad to know my time away from ficcing hasn't made me rusty. My daughter's were black, pupil and iris the same color. And, yes, we mothers note at first glance the good traits our children have inherited from each of us. Clark's eyes would definitely be the first thing Lois noticed. My girls were both dark blue, almost grayish. Now they seem to be going brown. I'm still hoping one will get the green mutation from me. The first night in the hospital, Ashley furrowed her brow and it was like "OMG! She's all my husband!" And Kayla seems to favor my looks at the moment. (Pics of me at the same age looks like clones!) Oh, look. He's also Lois's child. Thanks! We're averaging 4-7 hours from when we first put them to bed until the first wake up/feeding. Usually 3-4 hours for all the subsequent wake ups/feedings after that during the night. Not too shabby for 3 months old!

Vicki,
An awsome way to return to the boards!
What a beautiful story. It really showcases your talent.
I too hope that the little ones will allow you time to write.
