That was evil Ching, simply evil assuming that the negative tension between Clark and Dan meant there was some sort of romantic tension. Also, just spitballing, but did Dan figure out that Kal-El was Clark?

CLARK: No. I'm just worried I'm a jinx.
JONATHAN: A jinx?
CLARK: Yeah. Let's face it, ever since she's known me, Lois's been kidnapped, frozen, pushed off buildings, almost stabbed, poisoned, buried alive and who knows what else, and it's all because of me.

Yes, Christina, I think Dan did, which is why the author sent him off to NK with the rest of the concubines (and he was swearing at Clark). It was interesting how Nor's group hadn't developed their powers yet (or hadn't discovered that they had them), so Clark was able to easily defeat them. Many thanks to the brains of the operation.

LOIS: You're welcome.

Clark did reveal himself a bit too clearly in front of Dan the concubine. Although, Dan seemed out of it.

From what I could tell, it seemed that Dan had been kidnapped and possibly brain wiped or washed for this assignment. He had no idea where he was or what he was doing there. He didn't recognize Superman in his black duds. He didn't remember being put into his 'dress' (which I hope was really a gown or robe). This seems to be another negative in the NK's score book, especially if Dan was taken for this job against his will (Lois came willingly).

It doesn't say much for NK's treatment of people from other planets or respect for concubines, which seem more like the slave trophies of Ancient times (when women and girls were taken from defeated towns and forced into slavery for the victors). This fits into them considering causalities among the human population during the battles with Nor as an acceptable risk, but once again, they come out looking like patronizing, self-important advanced civilization who belittle humans and treat other civilizations / populations as beneath them. It makes me wonder if there is a story out there, featuring the New Kryptonians which would leave me with anything other than a bad taste in my mouth at the end.

I know that I'm in the small (so tiny, I'm almost by myself) group that actually liked Dan as a character. I just didn't think he was right for Lois. So, I didn't think that this was a just end for him and left me feeling sad, instead of rolling on the floor with laughter. frown

Yup, I like Scardino as well.

A writer's job is to think of new plots and create characters who stay with you long after the final page has been read. If that mission is accomplished than we have done what we set out to do, which is to entertain and hopefully educate.

The idea that Ching brought Clark a man for a concubine was funny enough, but it was even funnier to find out that that man was Scardino. Best of all, though, was the image of Scardino in a dress! I will say, though, that despite the fact that Scardino is one of my least favorite characters from "Lois and Clark," I wasn't laughing about his fate at the end of the story. Nobody deserves to be taken to an alien world against his or her will, not even Scardino.
