From Chapter 14
As Martha put the cookies in the oven, Lois heard the sound of a car engine approaching. It stopped at the front of the house. “Someone’s here,” Martha said as she quickly washed and dried her hands. “Wouldn’t it be wonderful if it were Jack?”
Lois listened intently as Martha walked to the front door and opened it.
“Lana!” she said, sounding pleased. “And Levi! Come in.”
