Hi Toomi!
I don't know how I missed this one but I'm so glad to reread it now!
Had there been a crazy timewarp where she said she’d had a horrible date and he’d been plunked back into time just as she announced she never wanted to see him again?
So many stranger things have happened!!

Her heartbeat - the one he could pick out of a crowd - was pounding in his ears. He tried a little less focus and his heart sank when he heard her sobbing.
This went from a tug to a punch to the gut. So sad!
He could have opened the door if he’d thought about it.
That has so be so frustrating! I feel like he wouldn't have gone in anyway - just liek he won't peek through the walls.
Unless an asteroid was about to fall on the Earth, he was otherwise occupied.
I feel like the likelihood of this is higher than it should be, lol
Lois returned shortly, changed out of her evening wear and into sweat pants and a sweater.
This feels more like armor for this situation!
“What if it doesn’t work?” Lois whispered.
I so much prefer this version, where they might work this out together.
“What if it does?” He asked in a hushed tone, trying to match her own.
Ah, love the parallel sentence structure here! This rhetoric is so convincing!
“This,” he said as he leaned in to kiss her.
Aw, this swoon is movie-worthy!
This was so sweet!
