I love the transition here. First you show us how Lois is suffering and her disappointment at the brevity of Clark's message and how it's a poor replacement for a real relationship. Grandma El is perfect. It's so great he's not alone up there, that he's got an ally who cares.
And I love that even though she's disappointed in the message she gathers new hope through it.
