You know, Sarah, I always wondered why Lois didn't see the suit if Mayson, who was in the last moments of her life, could. I understand that Lois was in shock and that she didn't hear what Mayson said to Clark, but I always wondered what he did to cover up the big 'S' on his chest.
Lois's reaction was so very in character, from the shock of learning the truth to the slap to her insistence that they take some time apart from one another. You've nailed Clark's pain, too. I wonder if she'll be able to trust him now. I understand and respect his reasons for not telling her, but I also understand Lois's sense of betrayal. He's hidden something incredibly important from her for almost the entire time they've known each other, and it's not going to be easy to get past this (assuming, of course, that they actually do get past this).
This really is a nice beginning. You're some kind of wonderful writer if you can finish this in just one more chapter. I'm looking forward to the next post, because this is going to be a doozy.
