The Lois of nine years in the future (when they met in the series pilot) would never have allowed sentiment to interfere with her purpose. She would not have allowed herself to feel compassion for someone who has been shunned for reasons unknown to her, reasons which might actually be valid. She would not have let her guard down and allowed the Kents to touch her heart so quickly.

No, that Lois would have rented another car or bought a train ticket or hired a helicopter to get out of Kansas as fast as she could. She would have bid goodbye to the rustic life and never looked in the rear-view mirror to see what she was leaving behind her.

This is an excellent look at a younger, more vulnerable (though not much more trusting) Lois, one whose shields aren't fully formed yet. Please keep up the good work and let us know how this litle interlude in both of their lives turns out!
