What a horrible, terrible thing to do to Lois. You allow her and Clark to survive their ordeal, and to come together in what they figure will be their happy ever after. Then what do you do? You destroy it all.
You might as well of had Superman thrown in prison for life, and have Lois die a bitter and broken old spinster. They'd both have been better off.
This is worse than any so-called Tank ending could ever be.
