I personally liked the ending. Face it, Tank, if your view prevailed, the human race would have died out long ago.
In the real world, love and marriage usually lead to the next step -- kids.
Actually, on the subject of the story, I think this was a good tie-up. It did bring out that Clark will probably be wrestling certain demons for the rest of his life, which will keep Superman on the straight and narrow. Not all terrible things that happen in life have only bad consequences in the end. Lois and he have finally settled the situation between them, and life, as they say, goes on.
