Your version of the story heightens the jealousy that Clark felt for Superman (and essentially for himself) in the original season.
The first interview had a very different feeling with a third party present. It no longer sizzled with desire. (An observation, not a criticism. The story reads well as it stands, it just is a stark contrast.)
I still think that the earlier warning given by a different reader applies. Make sure that you don't turn dear Clark into a sheltered rose (or a hothouse tomato, as he put it). In fact, the best roses are fiercely pruned before they bloom.
