Hmmm, I can see a lot of possibilities for that locket. What if Lois gets interested in it and "borrows" it, for investigative purposes, of course? And then she loses it - how much will you bet that it is Lex Luthor who gets his hands on it? Clark isn't worried about Luthor but about himself, and he may or may not fly away to hide in the Arctic, but Lois convinces him to come back to Metropolis, and then he can't resist using his powers to help, and then Luthor...
Doesn't this sound like a probable scenario?
