This reminds me of something else. There's various fanfic stating that Clark's primitive lock combined with Lois's lock-picking skills combine to an implicit standing invitation for Lois. After all, he could just build in a more sophisticated lock if he minded her showing up at all times. So, Clark's reasoning is a wonderful mirror of this attitude ascribed to Lois
