I was playing with my picture maker and I came up with a poster for a story that doesn't exist. So I thought I'd throw this out there and see if this poster gave anyone an idea for a story. Anyway, here's the poster. Does it inspire any ideas? ML

Sure, Clark liked to help in secret prior to coming to Metropolis.
We all know that in L&C canon he invented Superman from remarks Lois made about a spare suit of clothes.
However in this day & age of computer software a maskedless hero would be IDed fairly quickly.
What if instead Lois made a remark about the oldtime radio show The Shadow and the Pulp magazine stories?
Clark adopts the existing costume and background of The Shadow. Even if someone does see him the witness is discredited by his own words.
A well done human shadow face mask would work because Clark would not need eye holes, and with the mouth hidden by the scarf no one would notice it does not move. His voice would be distorted and his age hidden. Only those who got really close would see it was a mask.
The Shadow used a number of identities some belonging to living people he borrowed with permission, some created.
Would a fire chief have any real problem with The Shadow if he still saved lives? If he still did Superman stuff and sometimes the hat was missing folks would still think he was appearing without a mask. Only those very close would know it was a mask. Perhaps Clark could have a "supertech" face mask that even up close looked real? And with the the nose and ears normally seen on The Shadow no one would suspect Clark.
If anyone did think it was Clark it would appear that The Shadow borrowed his identity briefly.

Great poster, ML. The images you chose are very intriguing, thought provoking and it makes me smile. Lois is looking so confident and sassy and Clark is ever in the background, his posture self-deprecating and unassuming as always. It *begs* to be explained.
I can't commit to writing a story for it, but I hope someone does.

It looks to me like Clark caught Lois restocking her Double Fudge Crunch Bars, late one night. See, he's pulling down his glasses to take a super-quick peek. Lois' stance looks more defiant, like she's unwilling to admit that it's those sweet chocolate-y confections that helps her make it through the rough times.
It's her typical save-face and denial pose, with Clark's okay, but I know better pose behind her.

Love the poster, MLT. Can't do a story right now, but I did have an idea if anyone wants to do it. Clark is 'out of phase' or not quite in the right universe (think Star Trek), but he is still able to do things to help people. They only see his shadow because he is between two universes. This out of phase thing could have happened because of some kind of an accident or some such. But Lois still feels his presence and knows he's there. And their love for one another eventually triumphs to pull Clark back into sync with his universe and Lois and Clark live happily ever after with a few dozen kids.
