I have a question about, as you probably already guessed, mobiles phones. I'm going to spend a year in the UK and now I'm looking into mobile phones.

I've become quite addictive to them, but it will be too expensive to bring my current phone for that long. So I was wondering if anyhone can tell me what good operators in the UK, and more specific, London, are. I would be calling a lot to other EU counties and I'm sending a lot of texts.

I've already looked around a bit, but people who live in the UK should be able to tell me a lot more in a clear way. So... anyone can help me out here?

Well depends on your budget. I don't use the phone much, if at all, so I'm with Virgin, which is pay as you go. You can buy a phone here for as little as £30 on pay as you go, or get a much snazzier phone for free with a monthly plan. The other companies are:

Vodafone
Orange
O2
T-Mobile

I'll bring my old, still in excellent shape, phone with me and buy some pay as you go. It's easy and people can reach me while I can still send my text's.
