Oh this one was even better than the first, I think! Clark just grinned back, happier and more relaxed than she'd ever seen him after losing a contest to her. "Believe it or not, Lois, I've been planning my menu this entire game." Yeah... He obviously had no intention of winning that game, and yet I'm pretty sure he considers himself the "winner"! Great story! So, we get two more tomorrow, right??? -Bek

I think I also like this one better than the previous one. I want a romantic dinner cooked by Clarkie too. I needed this before I go out for the day. Thank you.

Oooooh butbutbut!! The close-up view of his muscles as picked up the heavy ball... You're missing a he there, which means... the story goes to 1001 words!!! That aside, I love their banter and Lois's introspection! And the ending is a treat! Sneaky, sneaky Clark!! Let's see where this bowling obsession will take us!
What we've got here is failure to communicate...

Bek—yes, he totally thinks he’s won too! And I can’t decide which one I like better! But if everyone likes this one better…does that mean I have to get progressively even BETTER as I go on?? Carrie—I’m happy you liked it! I’m glad you got a pick me up before you leave! Anna—Not anymore! I fixed it and deleted another word. Thank you! I loved their banter too! And yay to Kathy for the ending! Thanks everyone so far!!

You are going to write a sequel for this, right? Loved Clark's reply to her

I thought you were referring to this line: ...the fit of his jeans as he bent over... I read it as 'oooooh buttbuttbutt' and agreed I'm too fixated on the mental image of standing behind Clark as he's bowling with perfect form. Great ficlet. Off to read the next one!

Hi Sara! Lois always claims that bowling isn't her game, but somehow, she always manages to win when Clark is around. Of course, Clark would probably say the same about himself. “You’d think Franklin Stern owns the bowling alley or something with all the bowling events he makes us do!” No, he’s just really into tall white plastic figures. ”What? It’s boring, Clark, and you know I don’t like bowling.” Their banter is great. Just got done watching HiM, so this feels really well captured. "Yeah...whoever gets the highest score wins." Umm…that’s how it works anyway? "What do I win?" "I said whoever wins!" he laughed "Okay, fine. And when I win..." she said as he opened the door for her, his hand sliding down to her lower back, "...you have to...cook me a fancy dinner.” ”W-what?” And she’ll even let him bring the candles. She would have bet on the fact that he'd wanted to kiss her, if she were the betting kind... She was. She was exactly the betting kind, and usually, she was fiercely determined to be the winner of said bet. And right now in this moment, as Clark seemed to be stealing glances at her and smiling that illegal smile...she had never wanted to win so badly. That’s one if those sucker bets where the loser never even wants to win, huh? The close-up view of his muscles as picked up the heavy ball... /Psst/ “as he picked” Edit: too late...(comes from waiting with posting FDK...) the man had a seriously unfair advantage over her when she had this...vantage point, directly behind him. Aww, I think the pheromones would have a far more…profound and insistent effect on her now than they had a year ago. Five? Not a terribly strong start, not one to be smiling like that for. CLARK: I win if she wins. All good with operation Stealth Date. "Believe it or not, Lois, I've been planning my menu this entire game." See? Poor guys totally distracted from the game. Those are really great fun. You do realize this series is turning more and more into an episodic story than a series of 824 word vignettes, right? I’m just saying, you me need to finish this story sometime down the line and also start a new series of vignettes to actually match the homework assignment Which in no way, shape, or form would result in more fun ficlets to be read and such considerations to not influence this reader’s thinking while writing FDK. Michael PS: I'm too fixated on the mental image of standing behind Clark as he's bowling with perfect form. This certainly is a trope some authors are happy to tick off in their boxes to satisfy a avid reader Recommend asking on Discord for details. And as for "why bowling"...Maybe because it's Thanksgiving-season and bowling has a Turkey in it? Too much Flintstones or Al Bundy? Because it's the total opposite of what Lois considers sophisticated? Because there's no chance of running into Lex's zombie while at bowling? Because resurrlexted Lex as a head has smooth, round, and shiny as a bowling ball?

Clark definitely won this one.
And what do you mean we won't see the dinner?! Um… because I made a “rule” for the series that it has to take place in a bowling alley? (And to Queen’s rebuttal to that, that he could bring the cooked dinner to the bowling alley… I say. Nope. ) BUT, here’s what I WILL give you… ONE of my upcoming longer fics WILL have a date that involves Clark cooking for Lois at his apartment. So… it’ll happen! Just not in bowling world. And yeah… Clark totally won! And so did Lois. Thanks! Sara

SAME! I was like… ohh, a comment about his butt! Oh wait… In any case, I’m glad you liked the story AND the image of his butt! Thanks! Sara

“You’d think Franklin Stern owns the bowling alley or something with all the bowling events he makes us do!” No, he’s just really into tall white plastic figures. Nice one! Their banter is great. Just got done watching HiM, so this feels really well captured. Thank you!! I love it when I can hit the banter just right…and usually I feel like I can’t quite claim credit for it because it feels like I’m just dictating what they say in my head. (Well, then again…that’s mostly how I write, anyway, but usually when the banter happens, they’re talking so fast that my fast typing speed can’t even keep up! ) Aww, I think the pheromones would have a far more…profound and insistent effect on her now than they had a year ago. EGADS if that isn’t a damn bunny… what would happen if PML had happened LATER, like pre-dating/early-relationship??????? Those are really great fun. You do realize this series is turning more and more into an episodic story than a series of 824 word vignettes, right? I’m just saying, you me need to finish this story sometime down the line and also start a new series of vignettes to actually match the homework assignment Which in no way, shape, or form would result in more fun ficlets to be read and such considerations to not influence this reader’s thinking while writing FDK. Shhhhhhhh And as for "why bowling"...Maybe because it's Thanksgiving-season and bowling has a Turkey in it? Too much Flintstones or Al Bundy? Because it's the total opposite of what Lois considers sophisticated? Because there's no chance of running into Lex's zombie while at bowling? Because resurrlexted Lex as a head has smooth, round, and shiny as a bowling ball? “Why bowling?” … the answer actually is “Because AnnieM went bowling with her kids and had a discussion on the ethics of using superpowers while bowling, and then she asked for a plot bunny. ” But the REAL question is: why the heck are bowling stories so adorable??? Thanks for all the feedback!! Sara

I'm sure from Clark's point of view he was the winner. Glad you didn't stop on the first ficlet. This is very good and I definitely want more! Andreia
