Reading this chapter from young Clark's POV is really heart-wrenching. It's obvious his parents are more than a little screwed people. One really wonders why they even adopted him if they are so clearly not willing to give a child the care he needs. It doesn't seem to be for profit reasons either. Hmm...
Clark certainly is not ready to trust Martha and Jonathan yet. Which, I'm not blaming him for. I also get the feel he hasn't interacted much with people not his parents. Thus, he doesn't have a frame yet for what is "normal" nurture, and that the way his parents tought him is less than healthy.
For sure... You've read the next two now, so you know a little more, but yeah... he has NO frame of reference for kindness of any sort π₯π₯π₯
Yeah, how to tell a kid his parents died in a car-crash? That's...hard, there's no good way to do that. Poor JM.
That said...I get a certian feel they won't let him go easily, if even. Clark just hasn't realized yet.
Anyway, up to the next one.
