Chapter 3

Story TOC

Ackkkk, sorry to take so long to post this. I've been feeling a bit down lately for some other reasons, and I've sort of been away from things... Hope you all enjoy this chapter (even if some of it hurts a bit... I do promise to fix all the things!)

Thanks for reading! Posting Chapter 4 right now too!

ooh so, they don't know he's not the Peterson's bio kid, yet? In fact it kind of sounds like nobody knows? Curious where that goes.
Jonathan and Martha are just the best, and I love how also in the show, they were portrayed as being such gentle and involved parents. Martha in particular always stole the show imo, and she's doing it again here. Their sense of immediate purpose and belonging, mwah, chefs kiss, the looming dread is palpable also. Ok onwards to chapter 4 XD

I love how you portrayed the conversation between Martha and Jonathan, how they both instantly know they want to provide a better home for the poor boy.

Thanks for posting. I really like how we're seeing different people's perspectives in this terrible situation.

Wow, that was...intense!
Poor Jonathan. HAving to witness all of this going on and like..he has to tell all of this to Martha and then they have to sort it all out with Clark. He just realized they might be well over their head with this one, yet they still feel absolutely committed to it. Becoming new parents is hard enough, even more so for a kid of some years. Add all the trauma...it's going to be an absolute hard ride for them. ANd they don't even know about the fancy superpowers that will kick in at some point, maybe some of them already have. And like...that's frightening enough for a stable child. One with this Clark's background? Yeah, that's gonna be a shitshow.
I'm convinced JM will do their best, as per usual. It won't be smooth sailing though, for all of the three, that's for sure.
One wonders if the Petersons were aware of Clark's dependency to the sun, given they locked up the windows and all that, or if this is just part of their general abusive behavior. (and if so, could that mean the development of powers has been prolonged as a result?) The morbid part of me would really like to know some more about their motivations doing what they did. Since they're dead and Clark is too young to have a frame for all that, we probably never will though. Not that that makes it any better.
So, JM basically have to start from scratch. And they also have a social worker on their trail to whom they have to prove they have that one. Which will...not be easy. Let's hope the lady in this case is smart enough to get it probably won't get any better for little CLark anywhere ele, too. (though she might want to bring him somewhere to a foster parent who has experience with this kinds of issues so that might be something to deal with)
Aaanyway...that wil be a wild ride. I'm so in for that.

Yes!! Martha is really one of my favorite characters from the show, and I'm trying to have her just be her wonderful self here, but she's also got doubts because ACKKK, this is ROUGH for all of them!

When I started writing from Martha's POV, I wasn't sure if I was going to stick with JUST hers...but then I quickly realized I needed at least Clark's too. Jonathan is harder to write (I've only written from his POV once...or twice maybe?)...so I hope I'm doing a good enough job here! Thanks for reading!

Yep, exactly to all of that! Parenting is hard enough, but to be thrust into a situation like THIS?? They are obviously fully committed, but they KNOW it's going to be a huge challenge. 😭😭😭

EEP, yeah, no one will *really* know (except me! haha... Yeah, they didn't know about his powers or the sun... they were just horrible people...)

Yeppppp, they have their work cut out for them. Thankfully, they're both strong willed people, and...well, it's meant to be 😍

Thanks for reading!!

That was intense and so very sad! Poor Clark! He’s now in the best possible hands. The road ahead won’t be easy but with all the love they have to give, Clark can start the healing process. I hope that Martha and Jonathan can eventually adopt Clark. He needs a loving, stable home. Thanks!
