Hi Nicole!
I guess I’m writing this more for future readers, though. I found this story ages ago, probably while I was researching Kerth nominations, or perhaps a Christmas theme. Anyway, Lucy Lane Is Coming to Town has such fun and spark and the adapted Christmas jingle embedded in the story certainly doesn’t hurt.
Aside from the seasonal angle, the main point of this story is Lucy playing matchmaker in the most sneaky kind of way. And it’s done in such an adorable way. I’m sorry that I don’t have a lengthy quoting of the entire story but I didn’t have time for a re-read right now
http://www.lcfanfic.com/stories/2005/html/lucylane.htmlThis is for the
December 2024 scavenger huntShe wasn't losing him to Lucy after all. She wasn't losing him at all, period. Not now. She could easily sweep this all under the carpet once more. Pretend it never happened. Put her arms on his shoulders and pull back until they were a full arm's length apart, once more.
Safe in their friendship.
No danger, no risk.
No love…
She looked into his eyes and opened her mouth, the instincts taking over. But… his eyes…
She suddenly realized where the real danger was. The far worse dangers ¬ the bigger risks ¬ in not telling him…
"Clark…"
He waited.
He looked so nervous.
Remember when he was gone. The things you wanted to say to him. He's here. He's right here. He's alive. And he's awake. He's right here…
A touch, a breath away from you. From everything…
"I have been in love with you for a really long time," she said, wiping a tear from her cheek. "I can't imagine my life without you in it. You are so a part of me, I know I would die without you. In some form. I know. But… I am so scared."
Aside from the declaration of love fulfilling the scavenger hunt task, this is also really beautiful!
Hmm… I did read the list and checked it twice, unfortunately, this story doesn’t qualify for any of the other fun scavenger items and my mind just wasn’t up for digging out a fallen Luthor do satisfy the jumping upper-class man. And I’m sure we have at least one story out there with Lois trying to milk a cow. Or one with a bachelorette party (you did not specify the type of ‘hen’) and anyway…I wanted to go with a Christmas classic.
